Interesting thought about SONY, Microsoft, Nintendo and a little sega.

It would be shame if anyone got a manopoly going. No one console is good for the industry. We need competition only makes things 10 times better. Ps2 is a strong console just not the strongest. And yes it has the market right now because it is the only one out, but believe me once ngc and xbox come things will change. One thing that plagues nintendo is there kiddy image. And sense male  ages 16-30 that with jobs a have  jobs and careers prefer a more mature console and see gcn as being for kids.  Everyone knows ms for one thing. And that is being dominate in whatever they strive for. The majority of ppl I know say ms will have a better console just because they have the name Microsoft on it. They have a repitation that breeds dominance. Although I want to see all the console do good. And it is very possible that all 3 could do well.

PPl counting out Ms or gcn before they even get here is just plain stupid. Lets all tell the truth.  Ps2 is a good system, but so far has not lived up to the hype. Let me say this dispute it all you want but dc has been the most entertaining system IMO so far. I mean NFL2K1 and nba2k1 are the best sports games out. And pso,powerstone,Mvc2,MSR,Shenmue,Soulcalibur, Crazy taxi, Virtua Tennis,Ufc, Quake 3, Grandia, and jet grind radio are all great games. That I would put up against anything on ps2 right now.

But with game like GT3, Twisted metal black, FFX, VF4, MGS2, tHE getaway, draken, and dead to rights. Ps2 is not done and is in noway finished. All I am saying is I wish all the good games could have came out earlier. All in all it keeps you enterested. And that is not a bad thing.

Now as for ms. There is noway I am going to miss out on seeing games like doa3, project ego, Bruce Lee: Quest of dragon. Project k-x, WWF raw is war, New legends and so on. There are so many titles that I cannot wait to see how they turn out of xbox. Too say xbox has no games would be telling a fat lie. Most ppl that say that don\'t even know that there are over 250 confirmed games that will be developed for xbox. All the big names are making games for xbox(except square but time will tell) as a game fan I don\'t see how you can past up a chance on experiencing a whole totally new game experience from a console that has shown to have the most power out all the big 3. Whether u hate bill or miscroft too deni yourself as gamer is foolish.

I seriously don\'t want to see Microsoft flourish anymore.  They have gone far enough.  I might wind up buying an X-box though.

Now to the topic.
I don\'t think there is going to be a problem with a monopoly this time around.  There are 3 systems fighting head on.  All of them will be successful, probably so successful that it will be hard to choose a true winner of this console war.  Nothing like this has ever happened.  That\'s what makes it interesting.

The kiddy image obviously is not a problem for Nintendo.  They have been successful with their previous systems, even with the kiddy title.  And don\'t forget that we live in very wealthy countries, and the children are very spoiled.  The young ones can usually get whatever they want, whether it\'s on their birthday, on Christmas, or just a present from rich parents.  And don\'t forget that there are old people who like Nintendo systems too.

How many of us are counting out the Xbox or the NGC?  Come on now, don\'t be shy.  What?  I can\'t see any hands?  Wow, bid surprise.  It is way too early to count out either of them.  We may not be getting them on launch day because the games that have been shown don\'t interest us, but I really doubt any of us are counting them out.

There is still a lot of time and a lot of great games coming out to the PS2 before the NGC and Xbox are released.  And while those two newer systems are having their launches, the PS2 will be counter attacking the systems with some great AAA titles.

Last thing I want to mention is that I don\'t think the Xbox is going to be the most powerful, I think the PS2 will be.  Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know the stats of both the Xbox and the NGC are better, so don\'t bother giving me the stats.  I can\'t really give you a reason for thinking this except for the way the PS2 was designed was ingenious.  The system that is laughed at by millions of Nintendo and Xbox fanboys will have its revenge!  Ha ha ha!    Only time will tell.  See you in five years when we know the true winner.

you say the PS2 has disappointed?  i say its brilliant...no console ever has its best games early on...DC was probably the best weve ever seen, but if it had of flourished and survived the length of the term, then its best games would be near the end of its life.  Just look at the PSX, it had hardly any good games early on, but towards the end of its life had a plethora of quality AAA titles.  Most people have become much bigger on videogames in recent years due to the fact that the PSX has broadened rhe market.  People assume, the PSX had great games, the PS2 should imediately have games of the same quality...not true.  I think you will see XBox and GC\'s best games wont be out until much later in their lives too

In that I meant with it\'s first wave of games it was a  disappointment. (imo)  I mean media hype fan hype. The first wave of games where not up to what was hyped. I mean ps2 is barely getting started how could something like that even be said? I am not trying to  argue because there is nothing to argue over because we all know ps2 is a good system.

i suppose, most people were expecting revolutionary games straight away, i however was only ever expecting PSX games with prettier graphics, faster framerates etc.  i suppose thats why im not disappointed...all the games that tried to be revolutionary or inovative (i.e. the bouncer) either ended up being delayed or sucked...only now are the innovative games starting to show themselves

I agree with Bob on this one.  I am happy with the PS2 so far.  There launch titles were great IMO (TTT, DOA2, Madden, Timesplitters, SSX.  How can anyone say those are crappy launch titles?)  Since the launch, good games have been few and far between, but there have been good games. (Onimusha, ZOE w/ MGS2 demo , Dark Cloud, Red Faction).  And coming in 11 days is Twisted Metal Black!

dood, as big a PS2 fan i am, i really dont think its possible.  unless theres a really huge glitch in the XBox hardware, the Braphics Synthesizer really isnt good enough, or well designed enough to compete, there are a couple of basic flaws which means it uses up too much bandwidth for too little things.

that doesnt mean the PS2 wont have fatastic looking games, it will, and i believe there wont be THAT BIGGER graphical difference.  I still firmly believe the most graphically impressive concept currently being shown is Jak & DAxster, that game is just beautiful.  But when XBox developers do start getting into it on the final hardware, chances are they will have superior graphics to the PS2.  But i seriously doubt those differences will be anything too great

Well like I said, we will just have to wait and see.  And if I\'m wrong, so what?  Will I even know you in five years?  I\'m hoping I will, but it\'s not garanteed.

I\'ll make you a deal.  If the PS2\'s best looking games ever look better than the Xbox\'s best looking games, and we still know each other, you will have to bow down at my feet and call me the King of the Iron Fist Tournament.  And If that doesn\'t happen within the next five years, I will do the same.
