Adan´s graphic card problems

HI friends, as you can see, lately I´m visiting the forums a bit only and at the moment I can´t use other programs like ICQ or Chat. The problem? The graphic card. I had a ATI RAGE PRO 8 mg, and I changed it by a Geforce2 MX 200 64 MG TV out and now my pc is bad, very bad.

Firstly the pc freezes when I turn off or exit a game, like Quake III. But the real problem is with windows. The pc freezes when it wants, when I change of window or program.

Furthermore, sometimes when I turn on my pc the screen is black and I have to reset the computer... what´s the problem?

The old card has been succesfully uninstall... so I can´t understand this problem. The card rocks with games, like Quake III, whose quality is great.

If you can help me... please do it.

Try to get the latest drivers. Do you run Win2K ? Is it a
VIA motherboard ?
I have a Creative GeForce 2GTS on Win 2K pro on a VIA
motherboard with only sometimes boot up problems, nothing
serious though.
Check motherboard readme for videocard compatibilty.

What detonator version are you using, the one form the video card manufactorer is trash and often on up to date, get the Nvidia drivers. Or try defragginbg your HD

I have a Gateway with the GeForce 2 and I had the exact same problems!

I called gateway and they had me install a "Gateway Update."  Basically it does all the work for me.  It searches the companies website for all the devices I have, and then lets me know if there are any updates, and downloads them for me.


I\'ve downloaded about three updates for the GeForce 2.

Find their official website and get the updates, and your problem shall be solved!

The NVIDIA driver I have right now is  4.12.01.0532

Ok without looking at it closer I can\'t suggest much but heres a list of things to try.

- Update the BIOS. With new graphics cards that sometimes needs to be done.

- Check for conflicts in the system, IRQ / IO conflicts and then once found move to free resources.

- Try and avoid having your PCI1 slot using when AGP slot is in use as that can cause problems.

- Try swapping around drivers for the graphics card.

- If it is AGP make sure you have the right speed selected for the slot in the BIOS.

Can\'t think of much else.

I can prehaps help more if you list more information. What type BIOS do you own etc. What speed is your memory etc.

It can be hell clearing out all the old ATi files,and they can cause instability.

Thanx friends for help me. I can´t fix the problem so I´ve right now the old card. Furthermore I don´t know how to do many of those things. Anyway thanx.

Thats no probs. Ill certainly help you m8. I didn\'t want to write out how to do them all incase you knew how to do them, cause if so I would have been wasting my time and could have come accross patranising.

So if your still wanting to get that card working tell me what you need to know and ill try and help you.
