Red-Green...and Purple

Yep. Heinz plans on Purple ketchup this September. Green was such a hit:)

Heinz Adds Purple Ketchup to Traditional Red, Runaway Hit Green
By Todd Spangler Associated Press Writer

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Heinz is adding "Funky Purple" to its crayon box of condiment colors.
The company, hoping to build on last year\'s success with a "Blastin\' Green" ketchup, said Tuesday the new purple ketchup will be on store shelves in September

In seven months, H.J. Heinz Co. sold more than 10 million bottles of green ketchup, pushing up total sales by 5.4 percent and helping the Pittsburgh company boost its share of the American ketchup market to 59 percent from 55 percent immediately prior to green ketchup, spokesman Michael Mullen said.

With the marketing campaign aimed squarely at children, the green ketchup came in a new EZ Squirt plastic squeeze bottle, specially designed with a narrow nozzle to let kids paint their food with precision.

"We knew we had a good idea on our hands. Otherwise, we wouldn\'t have launched it," said Brendan Foley, general manager of global condiments and sauces for Heinz. "But the momentum it built, the frenzy we saw, I don\'t know we expected that."

Heinz promises the ketchup keeps the company\'s signature taste and recipe, with a little Blue No. 1 and Red No. 3 thrown in to shade the condiment. The company still makes its traditional red.

Next month, kids armed with Heinz EZ Squirt bottles will be able to draw Harry Potter lightning bolts on hot dogs and renderings of a certain big purple dinosaur on hamburgers.

"Purple is one of the hottest colors for kids right now. In an era when kids can\'t get enough monsters and wizards, the bold, powerful, color purple has reached new heights of popularity," said Jay de Sibour, president of the Color Marketing Group, a not-for-profit international association of designers. "It\'s consistently a kid favorite."

Armageddon is coming.  Purple catsup, that is horrific.  I will not go near that green stuff.  It\'s not natural I tell you!  It\'s immoral to eat food with green (and now purple) catsup!  Wrong I tell you!

If you ever see it, run away as fast as you can.  If you see someone eating it, don\'t blame them, they are probably possesed by Lucifer.

I\'m serious, purple catsup is the work of the Devil.

It\'s just plain wrong.

Wrong I tell you!

Wrong!

Wait a second...  Catsup is made out of tomatoes.  Tomatoes are red.  What kind of chemicals did they have to put in to change the color to green or purple?  I\'m not saying it didn\'t already have all sorts of additives anyway, but oh man this is frightening.  Steer clear people.

I bet when the neanderthal kids would make a snowman, someone would always end up saying, \"Don\'t forget the thick, heavy brows.\" Then they would all get embarrassed because they remembered they had the big hunky brows too, and they\'d get mad and eat the snowman.

Purple, will this fabulous color become a new trend? Will this ketchup, alongside Nintendo\'s Gamecube, bring a revolution in our thoughts of the color purple, ultimately turning them around completely? We must wait and see.:bounce:

Hmmm, do they all have the same taste? I don\'t really mind the color, as long as it tastes the same.

They all taste exactly the same.  The only difference is the amount of coloring.  Coloring doesn\'t have taste.  Even red catsup has coloring in it.  But at least it\'s still red.  God intended catsup to be red, and red it shall be in my house.

Dark Hunter, the censoring is here for a reason, not for you to add other characters so you can curse. Try to express yourself in other ways please. Don\'t make a big deal out of this, just keep it in mind.

lol

those trends haven\'t yet hit Finland, but it\'s only a matter of time I believe. I can imagine that the green ketchup looks exactly like the stuffing from your nose...

And purple ketchup? it isn\'t normal anymore. Ketchup is meant to be red, RED like tomatoes. There isn\'t any purple tomatoes now is there?

World is plain sick if it concentrates on these things. Ketchup colour isn\'t the biggest problem here on earth.
