You guys remember when I told you guys I was getting some poetry published in some big poetry book?

Well, when I got home from my vacation and opened my mailbox (no, REAL mail, silly) I saw a letter from poetry.com. Now they are selecting me as 1 of 33 poets to be included in "The Sound of Poetry" a spoken word set of poetry.

1 of 33!

Imagine the luck. Me, just rying to win 1000 bucks (which I didn\'t by the way!) is now getting published in two major things, 1 of which only 32 others are in!!

Yup, I am a poetry pimp.

Well congratulations. My friend "won" this poetry contest a while back. They were going to make him pay 400$ for a plane ticket... Then he later found out it was a big hoax and about 1000 other people had "won" too. He was really disappointed...:(

yep, evis is right, on tv, either dateline or one of those shows, did a segment on it, pretty much every entree that is recieved is a "winner", they try to get money off u by various things like the plane tickets and they try to sell u a copy of all  their poetry with your work in it.

Im sorry i had to tell u this but maybe this is a different contest, and either way im sure your poetry is great.

It ain\'t the contest I tried out. Mine was Poetry.com. I don\'t think a site that big would have the balls or stupidity to gip people out of money, either.

I am also not buying any of the stuff, since I am a poor cheapo, I just like getting recognized for my work :)

Great news Eric,
You should be recognized, just remember not to give em any money, they should give you money, not the other way around. ;)

Congratulations, AlteredBeast.

A few weeks ago I got a notice from Poetry.com, informing me that a piece I had submitted had been chosen to be published in July 10, 2001.  I won\'t be buying the book, however, since it\'s too expensive for me right now.

Congrats Eric!

That\'d be, like, my dream-come-true. \'Tho I write short-stories instead of poems.

Someday, I\'d love to see the best of them published :)

PS2_gamer, I believe he is talking about the book anthology and not the spoken word set.

The book anthology is a massive book, and it is very likely if the poem is good, it will get on.

I had to do poetry in school. It was quite good but never good enough to be put in any big book. I am more like a story writer. A couple of years ago, my teacher said that I was one of the best.
Congratulations AlteredBeast. :hat:
