According to studio estimates issued on Sunday, Carey\'s musical drama "Glitter" debuted at No. 11 with an off-key $2.5 million for the three-day period beginning Friday.
"Glitter" was developed by Sony Pictures Entertainment, a unit of Sony Corp (T:6758). It was originally set for an Aug. 31 release, tying in with Carey\'s new soundtrack album of the same name, but both projects were pushed back when the 31-year-old diva suffered a mental breakdown.
Critics hooted at the the story of a singer (Carey) who teams up with a club DJ (Max Beesley) to achieve her goal of playing Madison Square Garden. The Wall Street Journal said it was "too dopey to deserve scorn."

I\'ll give you Caddyshack Bill Murray or even What About Bob Bill Murray, but Rushmore Bill Murray?  I\'d rather watch Arthur Murray.

$2.5 million a weekend?

With an average ticket price of 7 bucks, this movie pulled in a whopping 2380 people a day over the opening weekend per state.

Too freaking funny.

I think I had a class in college that big.

Me thinks the whole Nutcase Mariah was nothing but a publicity stunt to get people to watch her lame A$$ movie and it did the exact opposite....It repelled people.   Jay and Silent Bob Strikes back made 11M the first weekend (Funny movie BTW)....should have been first if it wasnt for American Pie 2 and Rush Hour 2.
