In NJ, you can\'t carry a concealed weapon unless you fit the following criteria:
You are a cop.
You need a gun for your work.
You are from out of state, and want to pass through with a concealed weapon.
Also, in NJ, in order to get a handgun you first have to apply for a liscence to own a gun.
If you were even convicted of shoplifting as a 12 year old, you ain\'t getting a gun. You have to have an absolutely PRISTENE record to get a gun in NJ.
Then, after that, you have to find a dealer who will sell you a gun. He will put it on a layaway-type thing while you apply to buy a weapon.
You are then issued a permit to BUY the damn thing that lasts 90 days. If it expires, boom, they take it, and you can\'t buy guns anymore. You have to renew it, or turn it back in to the cops. If you don\'t, you get arrested, thereby precluding you from ever getting a gun in NJ, ever.
You could go across the river to PA, and just pick one up. Its really easy.
