I watched the match lastnight and all you can say is that Hopkins out-boxed and out punched Trinidad in every area.
Hopkins just kept circling and picking his punches and never stood infront of Trinidad during the fight, by the fifth round you could see a upset Trinidad. He would go back to his corner after each round and ask if he was winning the fight and his father would reply "yes, son".
While no one expected Trinidad to lose, it is not that surprising that Hopkin\'s won. He has always been the underdog and he remained one lastnight, as the crowd boo\'ed him during his walk to the ring.
After the match , there was the usual bragging by Hopkins but he also did apologize for his comments towards the Puetro Rican community and trashing the flag, stating that "they are my people too, they have black in \'em". He also told a dissapointed Trinidad, that if he ever wanted a rematch , just to let him know and they would arrange one on the spot.
Trinidad needs to take a break. He has quite a few big fights in the last couple of years and keeps going up in weight classes. He should just take time off, train and fix his problems as a boxer, mainly his routine to step up with that left foot and always try to go for a left hook - which is what Hopkins used against him. I doubt this fight will effect Trinidad\'s long term fan support, as it is only one loss and everyone realizes that once you step in that ring, someone is coming out a loser.
Hopkins on the other hand, is in great shape for thirty-six and says he still has more potenial left in him. I normally would not believe that, but lastnight he proved that he can actually box and just not have an all out brawl. He set a record lastnight with title defenses, won the Sugar Ray Robinson trophy and proved that he is legit.
In another \'Tito related news\' ; Tito Ortiz defended and kept his title in the heavy-middleweight UFC. It went all five rounds and he won by the cards.
