Taken from IGNHigh Calibur BoardMany consider Namco\'s Soul Calibur to be the best fighter ever. So it shouldn\'t shock anybody that just about everyone -- dead or alive -- is excited about the sequel. Strange things are afoot though. It all began last August when Soul Calibur 2 was unveiled not for PS2 or Xbox, but for GameCube. "There is significance in that," someone impressively important and undoubtedly connected told me while I ate my morning cereal. I happened to agree. The message boards immediately declared that any footage of SC2 was running on System 246 arcade hardware, an extension of Sony\'s PS2. A lot of typos ensued. But Namco may have a surprise up its sleeve, and Nintendo too. Word from my imaginary friends -- reliable sources on the issue -- is that Soul Calibur 2 has been up and running on GameCube arcade hardware for months and looks much better than what has so far been introduced to the public. "Gaimcoob arkaid hardzwear duz not exist! 246 ownz joo!" some stupid twit is bound to post to the boards (with many exclamation points) in response to my claim -- and of course I won\'t agree. GameCube arcade hardware in fact does exist -- it just hasn\'t been announced yet. And Soul Calibur 2 is just a testing ground. More software will use it.
