Eight thousand five hundred American dollars

And look! Monitor and mouse NOT included!

This was in 1989. Just 12 years ago.....if that\'s still running, that makes it out to be $700+ per year!

That price seems a little high.  I remember I bought a 386 SX in 1989 for 2500 bucks.  If I remember correctly it was 16 mhz.  256k ram...

Oh, well it may not have come with the monitor though.  Gosh, maybe I did pay over 3grand for it.

I bet 90% of people using computers today have no idea what MS Dos 3.0 even does.  Let alone versions 1,2,4,or 5...

Oh brother.  Back in the day when you had to individual dial up BBSes to get your porn and pirated files.

QModem was my friend.

The first PC I purchased myself was a Zeos 486/66 in 1993.  8 megs of RAM, 420 meg HD, 14.4 modem, Win 3.11, and a crappy monitor included.  That was about $2800 if I recall.  Yeah I think PC prices have remained relatively stable over the years, you just get more power for the money each year.

This Tandy thing was an abberation, but then Radio Shack has always been a ripoff and always will be.

I had a C64 then too.  I got it because my TI-994a sucked cause I didn\'t have a disc drive for it.  Those darn tapes took forever to load programs.

Shoot, I wasn\'t even counting the pre-wintel computers when I said the 486 was my first purchase!  How stupid of me.  The TI 99/4A was the first I actually paid for myself, way back in hmmmm, 1983/84???  What year was it when TI cancelled production and sold all the existing stock for $99 each?  That\'s when I bought it.  Ahh, good times man, good times.  :)

Sinclair ZX-81 (Z80) - gift
TI 99/4A (?) - purchased
Mattel Aquarius (Z80) - purchased
Atari 800XL (6502) - purchased
AT&T 6300 (8088) - borrowed
Compaq 386/25 - borrowed
Zeos 486/66 - purchased
Pentium 225 homebuilt - purchased
Pentium III 500 homebuilt - purchased
IBM Thinkpad 600 E - company provided
Yes that\'s it, just about it.

I am almost positive I got my TI in 4th grade.  I think that would make it 1980.  Maybe 79, not sure.  I was into Donky Kong Jr then.  Isn\'t that the one with the jungle and the rope climbing?

I remember how excited I was when I got my 32k extended basic cartridge.  Then I could do moving sprites!!!  YAHOO!!!!

Heh, I got the Sinclair when I was a freshman in highschool, and that was 1981.  I don\'t think the TI 99 was around yet.  ...Back in the day when computer nerds were HARDCORE!!!  :) :)  I guess I\'m older than you Vid.  :)

I remember the sinclair out when I already had the TI.  That\'s the one with no real keys right?

I am almost positive I was in 4th grade so it has to be 79 or 80, but maybe it was 5th grade which would give me 81..  I dunno.

I have a link at eBay with a similar computer. Not for much more than a couple of dollars though. Interesting how people sell such worthless crap. Check it out http://listings.ebay.com/aw/plistings/list/category4599/index.html?ssPageName=MFTestComp10
