Getting new video card and RAM! What kinds should I pick up?
« on: November 12, 2001, 06:41:26 PM »
Uhhh, yeah, so, anyway, what kind of card should I pick up?

I know I want a card with 64MB or higher of memory, so, just let me know what\'s good out there.

Also, should I stick with name brand (HP?) RAM, or would generic stuff cut it just as good?

Gimme some suggestions, duuuuuuuuuudes.

Best vid cards: NVidia GeForce 3 (Titanium 200/500), ATI Radeom 8500

Best RAM: Depends on what system your using, DDR for Athlon systems and RD for P4s.

Thanks, Sub an co.

I was just worried about compatability issues with the RAM, so, I will definitely go basement.

Last time I bought RAM, I paid 210 bucks for 128MB... now I\'m finding sites that sell 256 for 20.  :(

I\'d get a few sticks of edo ram and a nice Trident Cyberblade vid card to couple it with. :p

But seriously, if your going to go with brand name ram I\'d get Crucial, Mushkin or Kingston. All high quality brands.

And the boys have already told you about the vid cards.

If you are getting RAM go to Crucial.com

Video cards are a dime a dozen man, just pick one you like.  The Radeons are nice.  I have one.  And I doubt you could go wrong with Nvidia.  I had my eye on the Kyro II Prophet 4500 a few months ago but there will be a Kyro III soon.
