I have been getting viruses in files in my documents file lately.  The problem is that these aren\'t really files.  I have noting on my computer called 1581-20...  As a matter of fact, I cleared everything out of my documents directory.  It\'s empty.  I am a bit confused.

I\'ve had about 3 different viruses lately.  I am wearing protection too.  This is odd.  I did get an email the other day with a virus, but it was cought before opening.

Any ideas on how to stop this thing?

There is nothing on the website.

1. Open case
2. Locate harddrive
3. Hit the HD several times with hammer
4. Buy new PC
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAPETIME!
(thanks Chizzy!)

You`ll have to delete smething in the registry. I did a little research for ya, so look here for more info about it:http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/vbs.sorry.c.html

Yeah, I saw that already, but I couldn\'t locate the setting on the registry.  I went where it should have been and there was nothing there.  As if it had already been deleted.  I will try again when I get home.

I have definitely noticed a slow down with Outlook.

upgrade your virus scanner or get a new one, then kill the sucka!
I once had this worm who ate and pooped out my notepad, it wasn\'t funny since I needed to read loads of .txt files.

I am using system Works 2002 from Norton.  Upgraded weekly.  A matter of fact I just upgraded it a couple days ago.

I just wish I could see the effected files.  Then I could kill them.

It attached itself to many hidden files.  I deleted the directories to wipe it out, but this one is in my main documents folder, so I can\'t delete the folder.

I\'ll check out the reg tonight.

well, it deletes hidden files. I recommend you to watch out carefully, so it doesn\'t delete the hidden files in the windows directory. I suggest you back up your files on Cd-R or an extra HD, you never know what can happen

That\'s BAD BAD BAD, bro.

That means Outlook is spamming that e-mail out to people on your address book if it\'s a worm virus.  Avoid using outlook till your situation is resolved.

Yeah, I need to dump some stuff off.  Most of my stuff I have the disks for anyway.  I just don\'t want to have to deal with it.

These new viruses suck i had one and a technician had to come.  They do this address book thing with Outlook with allows OTHER viruses to come back in.  I would suggest getting someone to look at it ASAP before more damages are done.

I have a firewire drive I am going to take home and dump stuff onto for backup.  Can I backup my address book you think?  All of the files that are screwed up have been in my documents folder.  I would just hate to transfer it over to my firewire drive and then put it right back onto my new system.

I just need to move pictures and my address book.

That should be safe.  Of course it never hurts to check them with Norton or McAfee or whatever you use for anti-virus program.
