Screen distorted vertically...
« on: December 03, 2001, 05:55:15 AM »
When I use my PS2 or a Dreamcast on a TV, I can easily see how right and left screen borders look distorted. Distorsion changes as the colors on the screen change. I thought it will disappear when I connect PS2 using the component cable, but it stayed the same, so I\'m thinking it could be a problem with a TV? Or is it just normal?
TV is 20" Flat Screen Toshiba and is very similar to Sony Wega (same picture quality)

That definitely sounds like a TV problem.

Does it only have problems with Video Games?

Well, I can\'t notice if it\'s the same with TV program. because TV picture goes over the screen boundaries, while the console video out, being slightly lower resolution than TV, falls inside the screen area, so I can see the actual edges of the picture.

I have a problem with my sony tv, where there is most of the time a border on the right hand side of tv.

Happens on most dreamcast and ps2 games. Tried on a mates new sony, he only has a small picture placement problem on the top right side.

Lucky most games come with screen centring.
I met him 15 years ago, I was told there was nothing left, no reason, no concious, no understanding and even the most rudamentory sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong, I met this 6 year old child with this blang pale emotionless face and, the blackest eyes, the devils eyes, I spent 8 years trying to reach him, and then another 7 trying to keep him locked up because I realised what was living behind that boys eyes was purly and simply evil.

It seems like it has something to do with TV-s screen size, but I\'m not sure. I\'ll try to exchange the TV and see what happens. I have the same problem as you, plus my border is all distorted most of the time. Is your right border perfectly vertical or it also shows distortion?

I can see on the top part of my screen that it can become a bit distroted.

I dont think that its faulty tv\'s, its just how it is.

I plugged in my trusty old sega saturn, it had perfect picture placement. Not one border, all sides were perfectly even.
