Its one thing for you, mm, to get called a sony fanboy by Docwiz, but what is up with people like Ethan saying it, does nobody ever read your post, you\'ve even said before that your a sega fanboy, once again I must say its quite sad that they can\'t read

No i did not call mm a fanboy any where in my post, just because you like one console does not make you a fanboy!
We were just having a friendly row, we have a row every now and then, but it is all good, we still get on (I hope:D)
I just didn\'t want mm to miss out on a great game, just because of a keyboard and mouse, but he has played it and tryed it out, and that is all you can ask people to do, and if after they have played it, they still don\'t like it(the controls that is), then that is that.
But don\'t go around say that i called people something when i did not! OK

Halo isn\'t all that - No I am not bashing the Xbox in this post.  For a console it is certainly impressive and better than any FPS for the PS2.  I have a PS2, 3 computers and a DC currently and frankly I can\'t get into any FPS on a console.  I have played Halo a few times and the whole controller issue soured it for me.  After reading post after post praising Halo I had to offer my opinion.  My intial thoughts on the Halo hype were attributed to my belief that most of those who were claiming it to be the end all be all of games hadn\'t experienced FPS\'s on a computer.  This is probably not true, but seeing as no other FPS has ever generated as much interest on a console as this has I had my doubts.

Currently I have been playing RTCW on the comp and have had a blast with it, if and when it does come a console I wouldn\'t touch it for the fact that I too fall into the mouse keyboard group.  However I do like the fact that consoles are getting good FPS\'s, but there is a long way to go in terms of playability (ie controller).  Though the thought of having a built in HD on a console is VERY appealing along with the ease of starting the game up would eventually outway the gripes I have with consoles and FPS\'s.  There are other games I can\'t get into on consoles such as RPG\'s.  Then again there are games such as fighting and sports games that I would never dream to play on the computer.  Having started out with an Atari 2600 in the late 70\'s and a Commodore 64 in mid 80\'s I have been into gaming for a while and that may taint my view :)

I wish I still had my TG-16 with CD!! :(

It\'s cool, some people prefer mouse/KB support on FPS\'s some don\'t. ME, I really don\'t care I have fun with both, I play all the Rainbow Six games(name one I got it) on PC. I could never dream of playing any of these with a controller. However, I\'ve played many FPS\'s on many consoles and I have no problem adjusting. It\'s easy because the game is designed for controller play. Just as PC games are designed for KB/mouse play.

It really just boils down to prefrence, and you can\'t knock someone just because they prefer KB/mouse and you don\'t. Halo is an excellent game, and yes it would suit some players to have the KB/mouse option, but also many people are happy with it the way it is. So again, it just really boils down to taste and prefrence.

I say whoopdie doo!! Play what makes you happy, and don\'t play what makes you unhappy. It\'s really just that easy.

Like a good pc game player I say that 1st person shooters and consoles dont go together. I dare you, play q3 with your DC controller against PC gamers. Guess who wins?

For the most part, I agree with the "idea" of your opinion, but the amazing success of Halo ,among other notable fps, proves that with some effort and finances, a fairly good fps with a good control scheme can be made with an appeal to a broad audience. I understand your "PC fps purist" attitude, and Halo on the PC might end up being better, but you must give Bungie credit for doing an impressive job with Halo on Xbox, demonstrating that fps and consoles can "go together".
