Actualy if you think about what nintendo is doing they are on the ball if your thinking long term. Xbox and PS2 titles are getting more and more adult....lets say 15 and older. That means that PS2 and Xbox\'s core of people will be basicly done with console gaming in 5 or 6 yrs. Nintendo is pushing its products to the sub 10 yr old market where the money should be. All they have to do is have mature enough software at the end of the 5 yr console lifespan to keep those kids who were 10 and now 15 buying the apps. So nintendo\'s market is about double what xbox and ps2\'s is except the fact that the people who are going to be getting the xbox or ps2(except for christmas presents) can afford to buy them themselves in most cases. Now before i get alot of guff from post teens in here about how they are still console gamers and im impling they are immature for still being there, im talking about the market as a whole. Im 20 and was never a big console guy, i mostly leaned to the computer software titles that were 3d before any of the console manufactures could make a 3d console cheap enough to sell.
What i cant understand is the drastic change in microshafts marketing concept. For damn near 30 yrs microsoft hasnt give\'n a hoot about hardware, and they were right. The money is in the software in the computer market. If microsoft makes 4 million xbox\'s and sells that for just enough to not loose money(about $200 or so) and kicks the software price from 50 to 60 bucks you would prolly see GC and PS2 head\'n for the dumper for christmas sales, and thats where the money is with consoles. I would be willing to bet that they only sell twice as many consoles from Jan 15th to October 15 as they do from Nov 1st to Dec 24th. And thats saying something!
