Temporary Videogame Trading Forum

This is a new idea and if you think it\'s too crazy then just say so.  There are many games that I want to play and beat but just don\'t have the funds to pay $50 for a week\'s worth of gameplay.  I could always rent but I end up getting 65%-85% finished with my busy schedule before having to return it.  Remember the goold \'ol days when you and your next-door buddies would freely trade games and return them when both of you were finished playing?

How about opening a forum where registered members could do a temporary trade for games they are half-interested in?  For example, I mail Emperor Rob XG3 and he mails me Batman Vengeance.  Both of these are games that are just sitting on our shelves collecting dust, but the other party is interested in.  Although these are games we would like to enjoy, we both know there isn\'t much replay value after a good month\'s worth of play.  We would set out a pre-set time of how long the trade would be, say 2 weeks to a month.  We play the games for 2 weeks to a month then mail the games back to each other.

Postage & packing for a DVD case is around $2.50, that\'s $5 total for up to a month\'s worth of game trading, much better than rental stores.  I think doing something like this would cut down on the popularity of m0dchips, piracy, etc...  I think it would also increase the popularity of the site, getting more hits and increasing revenue from interested ad companies.

Of course you could always run into problems like Dead-beat traders who don\'t mail you back your game, scratch it up, etc...  We could maintain a Good Traders List similar to the DVD Forums.  They rank the best traders with the most successful transactions and these are the guys everyone wants to trade with.  Plus PSX2Central could have a disclaimer saying that forum trading is at your own risk and is not governed by nor the responsibilty of PSXCentral etc...

So what do you think?

There are many games out there right now I want to play like Devil May Cry, Jak & Daxter, Simpsons Road Rage, Frequency, etc, but that\'s close to $200 right there.  I\'m sure there are others that think $50 is too much for a game you\'re mildly interested in & wouldn\'t mind playing it through trade with a reputable forum member.

i would be hella pissed if i mailed by game to someone and they spilled coke on the manual, or just never sent it back

plus, i can just rent them

theres a store in my area called cd warehouse that specializes in used CD\'s, but they deal with xbox, PS2, and GC games.  they sell them for $24.99, far less than funcoland or EBworld will.

give them a try if you have one around

Well what if we don\'t do it as a temporary thing?  I mean heck, I\'m sure someone out there would be willing to trade a Starfighter for an ICO if both people just have them sitting on the shelf anyway.

One prob you have though is that most people on here are from different countries.  That\'s the best part about this board.

mm I see your point.  If you think this is not worthy of its own forum I can\'t argue.  Would you mind if I started a thread in Off-Topic about this though?  These guys have already expressed some interest and I wouldn\'t mind trading with them.

Maybe if it works out or turns into something big we could take this into reconsideration.  Who knows?

I believe the HardOCP forum runs something similar to the topic being talked about here. The forum runs very clean and organized. As a manner in fact, I know several people whom just visit that forum to do whatever. Check out some of their policies. Maybe it\'s worth concidering.

You MUST post a price for ALL FS deals and FS/FT deals.

No "dealers" or vendors of any kind. If you purchase any items in quantity, with the sole intent of bringing them here to resell, you are a dealer, by our definition.

Due to an update in the PayPal terms of service, it is a violation to charge buyers a "service fee" or "service charge".

Above all please handle all transactions with common sense.


If you ask me, unless I know the person in real life or I have a LOT of trust within a person I know very well through the net, I\'d never, ever lend or trade anything with them. Not that I\'m not a nice guy, but I\'m avoiding a real head ache.
