Yowser. The TOCA series was always known for its attention to detail and focus on realism, but there\'s no denying that TOCA Race Driver, the first for PlayStation 2, will be the most in-depth yet. Codemasters showed off some more sensational car models today, along with a full car list and a string of international tracks. Chuck in all the story-based features and focus on the driver, Ryan McCane, and you\'re looking at very steamy stuff indeed. It should be: the publisher confirmed a £3 million development tag for the game today.
42 cars are scheduled to appear. Here\'s a list, not including a heap of ultra-mega-bonzer-mate cars hidden away for you to uncover:

I don\'t think those cars look that good at all. Could just be the pictures though.

Back grounds look nice.

It looks FANTASTIC!!! however, i think it\'s definitely PC-pre-rendered pics...resolution is way too high and too sharp for TV.

I really have to disagree, those cars look great--too good for in game, tv res though.

I have to agree with pstwo, those graphix are amasing, and i don\'t put it past the ps2 to do that on a TV.

well you arent alone on the cars

they look weird to me as well - they look nice excpet they look too smooth and roundish so to speak - like there is no indents anywhere - which makes it look well fake - i mean there are no just painted on lines to seperate stuff and the reflection hits those lines so it makes it look fake

sorry i cant explain it too well because i cant put it into words but i think that they could have done better with the cars

Why oh why can\'t they make the rims perfectly rounded? If the can make the car\'s body look curvy smooth....why not with the rims and tires?

Can you really notice while playing?

I\'ve never really noticed until now, but I can see what you mean.

It\'d take a lot of polys to do that, and I\'m not sure it\'s worth it.

No, of course not. But if they\'re gonna have show off shots like that, at least make it look rounder especially since it\'s not an in-game shot.

I\'m not really impressed by the screens. It looks nice and all, but that\'s probably just because there are almost no jaggies and the cars are all shiny and all.

And I would think they could at least make round tires... looks horrible. I still play GT3 A-Spec regularly and the wheels are pretty smooth (during play aswell as at the car selection screen).

BTW: It might take a lot of polygons to make something round or more smooth, but the Emotion Engine can handle Beziers curves.
