I don\'t really have time to dedicate huge reviews to the following games, so I\'ll just do some quick mini-reviews for everyone.. Keep in mind also, all three Gameboy Advance games are imports, so things may have been added or deleted from domestic versions, though I doubt it.
Tekken Advance
The very fact that Tekken is on the GBA is pretty damn amazing for a few reasons. First, the Tekken series has stayed on Sony platforms, not to mention the fact that Tekken Advance is a close port to Tekken 3 a 32bit Psone game.
How does it stand up ?
As a game, Tekken Advance doesn\'t do very well for a couple reasons. First off, you are limited to one punch, one kick and a throw button. Sure, you can use the \'L\' button to change your punch and kick, but it is almost useless. The game does truly turn into a button masher with little or no depth.
As a techincal achievement, the game wins hands down. You have characters that look damn close (or close enough) to their grown up counterparts. Excellent backgrounds, all on a small tiny handheld.
The game is worth picking up for hardcore Tekken fans only though. Anyone else will be dissapointed with the lack of depth in the game.
Sonic Advance
Short and simple. This game is friggin\' amazing. If there ever was a game that could be called "Sonic 4", then this is it. Sonic Advance takes the best things of all the previous 2D Sonic\'s and ups it even more. You can pick bewteen Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and even Amy, each character has their own pro\'s and cons. You\'ll need to use each character if you want to explore the often huge levels for secerts - which there is plenty of.
If this is any indication of what Sega plans on doing with the GBA, then bring it on.
Super Mario Advance 2
Mario Advance 2 is actually just a port of Super Mario World, the original pack-in launch title for the Super-Nes. There isn\'t much you can say, except that this game was a classic back in the days and still remains one of Nintendo\'s and 2D platform gaming\'s best offerings.
Onimusha Genma
I\'m a Capcom whore so I couldn\'t avoid picking this one up. Was it worth it? Depends on if you have already beat the PS2 version or not...
If you never played Onimusha, then by all means, go out and buy this game. Not only is it a great action title, it has been upped quite abit from the PS2 version.
If you have already beat the PS2 version, there may be enough to go back again... New customes, magic attacks, green orbs - that have a tug of war effect with enemies , ramped up difficulity and new enemies are all features of Genma Onimusha. Sure, there is no new ending or storyline, but if you are a fan of Onimusha who thought it was too easy on the PS2, you\'ll enjoy the XBox port.
Yes, I know they was short and I didn\'t score them, but with all the above games (minus Tekken Advance) I don\'t have quite the time to do huge in-depth reviews. I just thought I would give you my quick opinion of the titles.... Oh and never order from VideoGame Depot... I ordered the three GBA games from them the day after christmas and just received them last week! Damn them!
