Yep. I\'ve just got my hands on the greatest fighting game on earth(so says Yu Suzuki..

and here\'s my initial impression.
Firstly, let me say that I find VF1 a joke(still a 2D fighter back then), play quite a lot of VF2 on my Saturn but still sucks horribly and I never really quite like VF3 on the DC although it has better graphics. But my favorite fighter is really Soul Calibur on the DC.
I haven\'t spend too much time on it, so it\'s only a brief review. Here goes.
Gameplay - I think SEGA has finally nail it in the gameplay this time. The gameplay is tight, AI is decent and you can\'t use the same moves over and over and win easily like previous game. Once of the best thing about it is somehow the speed. The speed is not too fast(like DOA series) making it a "who smash the buttons faster slugfest" and it\'s just feel about right. The controls are tight and everything just seems to fall in place. Another good point is there\'s no more ridiculous high jumps in previous version(but I think this was fix in VF3 already, can\'t remember).
I love it!
Graphics - well, I haven\'t play the arcade version so no comments on that, but if you load up VF3 on DC and VF4 on PS2 side by side, the difference is like betwen VF3 and VF2!! Maybe even better!! It\'s trully astounding. Here\'s what I like: the characters have very detail polygons and the face of each character is in the fullest detail. Check out Lau\'s wrinkles..I \'m not sure whether it\'s polygon or texture(I think it looks more like polygons) but it sure looks *wrinkly*!! LOL. oh, and those reflection(on some stages) AND proper shadows. Best of all i think Jacky\'s jacket has finally been brought to life..it really does looks like leather.
My favorite stage is Jacky with the helicopter shining a bright spot light at you and the lightning in this stage is just incredible. Check out the lights bouncing off jacky\'s jacket in nighttime..you\'ll almost believe it\'s real!
Oh yeah, and those leaves blowing on the stages and the stones that crashes..
And finally, Pai has her arms fixed back to her body after been turned into broken arm puppet in a bad port in VF3TB on the DC.
And check out the Lei guy. I can finally play as a monk...I always wanted to be a monk but since I can\'t give up sex and videogaming they\'d kicked me out of the Shaolin Temple.. Ha!Ha!
Happy gaming, guys!
