Statement From Square About Nintendo
« on: March 09, 2002, 01:59:19 PM »
Company Name : Square, Inc.
Representative Name : CEO/President Yoichi Wada
Inquiries to be made to : CEO Office, Publicity/IR Chief
Kazuyoshi Murakawa

In some of the coverage by the media today, there have been reports that "Our company will return to providing games for Nintendo Co. Ltd." and "One of our company\'s producer will establish a company". While we are currently in the stage of preparing for publicity, we will release some supplementary explanation.

Our company is currently in preparation to release game software for Nintendo Co. Ltd\'s "Game Boy Advance" through a game planning & development company (Corporate name: Game Designers Studio Inc.(tentative), Capital: 10 million yen, Capital composition: Akiyoshi Kawazu 51%, Square 49%, Company Representative: Akiyoshi Kawazu(concurrently to post as Square Executive).

In addition, our game planning & development company is going through adjustment to receive an investment fund in its development of a new type of game. The investment fund "Fund Q", was established by Hiroshi Yamauchi\'s private fortune (Nintendo Co. Ltd President) to support venture businesses.

These issues will not influence our business productivity for the present term. We are currently planning our business management for the next term and onwards such as "Final Fantasy XI" and "Final Fantasy XII", with Sony Computer Entertainment\'s PlayStation 2 as our main platform\'

hmm.. could it be that my theory was about 99% correct?

The game that will be on the GBA/NGC is susposedly Final Fantasy Unlimted (based on the cartoon series)

1.) Its by one of my unfavorite directors- Akitoshi Kawazu, who worked on Legend of Mana and SaGa for Square. I think most people would agree that both series.. especially Legend of Mana (not secret of mana) was horrible!
2.) The team itself making it is not even square.. only the director is from square
3.) Square wanted to released old FF\'s on GBA, but needed an exclusive title (suposedly)
4.) Square sacrificed their crappiest directer to make the exclusive game (not really a sacrifice  )... which actually won\'t cost them anything beacuse nintendo is PAYING for it with their fund
5.) Square wins, Sony wins (beacuse sony owns 20% of square)

Square AND Sony use nintendo and nintendo can\'t do a thing about it cause they need to do something to get people to go to the console.. cause things are not looking good for it right now

Lol, it really was an offer square could not refuse..
nintendo pays for the development of the NGC games, while square gets to release GBA games and make millions and make millions off from a FREE game on the NGC

Sony wins also, beacuse they own ALOT of square stock.. and they keep all the big titles..
the big loser.. Microsoft.. who will aparently get left out in the rain

Also, I can\'t wait for those GBA titles :) :D
