Thats just sick! Turning some little nice piece of hardware into something as boring as a web server. :D

Although you got to give the guy credit hes writing his own protocols and everything.

Those GBA games took me more of a suprise. Those things are small!

But, I think GBA is a slick thing. I mean, MS or Sony has yet to develop a hand-held (to my knowledge). I thought GameGear was pretty innovative when it debuted :(
You think positive, I\'ll think realistic.

Theres a thing called the Sega Nomad which actually took Genesis / Mega Drive cartridges and played them. This was released years ago so in a sense the Gameboy Advance being released now isn\'t technologically that great.

The problem with Game Gear was resolution, and size.. but the original Game Boy was big too.

Nomad was a cool concept, but I think it went through batteries like a knife through hot butter. :)

Plus games that aren\'t designed for a handheld are going to have issues.. RPG\'s for example. The text in a Genesis RPG would be ridiculously small on the small Nomad screen.. while on GBA, the developers made the text larger to fit the format.

RichG: The GBA is significantly better than the Genesis in hardware power. Better than SNES too.

It\'s not significantly better.  Marginally, yes.  It\'s really the devs that are more skilled now--theya lso have better libraries.

I\'ve been itching to pick one up.  Still waiting for the price to fall.

That\'s technologically crazy.  Who\'d a thunk a GBA could be manipulated into a server?

Watchdog: Marginally, significantly.. it can handle far more sprites on-screen. It can handle Mode 7, polygons, more complex scrolling, better music.. etc. So "marginally" could work, but in the 2D arena, I\'d say "significantly". GBA = double the clock speed of Genesis, I believe. 8MHz vs 16MHz.. not bad.

You could be right, I haven\'t really checked into the specs, but from what I\'ve read, it says it is basically an SNES, and from what I\'ve seen it doesn\'t look that much better.  I\'ll defer to you.

Well, the SNES couldn\'t possibly handle Mario Kart or Doom quite as well as GBA does.

Has anyone else looked at the code and project plan on this site? It looks like all he is doing is attempting to be able to output text to his GBA. How does this make the GBA a web server? It\'s not like he is storing files on his GBA or people can dial into his GBA. All he has is a method of writing text to the GBA screen and even that, going by his code, doesnt look like it would work.

How does he plan on installing the libraries or exectuables that he creates on a GBA?

Nevermind, I take most of what I said back... after looking at it a bit farther I see what he is doing now. Still... pretty pointless other then being able to say you did it.
