As of lately I\'ve been getting tired of the same ol\' gameplay.  Now the inovative games are starting to catch my eye.

I can\'t possibly be the only one who\'s noticed the uncanny resemblance between Ratchet and Fox McCloud. I hope Insomniac isn\'t just trying to clone SF:A, although I have to admit I wouldn\'t mind having to epic Zeldaesque games at the same time.

The gameplay mechanics soud great, particularly the upgrading aspect (which is something I felt they could have added into J&D). Hopefully they\'ll include some Metroid style elements, where you get upgrades and they subsequently help you access new or secret areas.

He has the power of both worlds
Girl: What power… beyond my expectations?
AND IT\'S PERSONAL
Demon: No… the legendary Sparda!?
Dante: You\'re right, but I\'m his son Dante!

Now I realized what was missing : shadows (that oily smugde dragging along with the characters doesn\'t count). Proper real-time shadows this time, please? Or maybe it\'s too much to ask for...

Nah.. Most new games have real-time shadows (Ico(even self-shadowing), MGS2, Tekken 4, Tekken Tag, Soul Calibur 2 (self-shadowing), Ace Combat 4 (self-shadowing as well)a.s.o.).

Not to much to ask for IMO.

But remember, Jak and Daxter had a circle shadow for a long time before they implanted the polygon shadow.
I dont think real-time shadows is something you implant early in development.

I\'m just hoping that they\'re trying to top J&D even in this respect...

And MGS2\'s shadows were kinda lame.. initially neat, but... blech... just so damn "fake" (now u see \'em, POP, now you don\'t). And they could\'ve used \'em a LOT more as an element to watch for. Silent Hill 2 did it right... :)

And most of the games you mentioned are all ones that center on rather confined spaces at one time, this one\'s trying to render a whole world at one time.. ouch.

You\'ve been betrayed and left for dead.  Now you\'re taking revenge, unless the city streets get you first.  Mob boses need a favor, crooked cops need help and street gangs want you dead.  You\'ll have to rob, steal, and just plain kill to survive

Not Ico and Ace Combat 4 though ;)

Whats wrong with MGS2\'s shadows? You cant see your shadow in dark locations or locations with alot of lights around.
The Shell has better lightning than the Tank IMO.

:) Looks OK!

I don\'t know why... but it remembers me J&D... perhaps J&D2 :D
