I bought Kingdom hearts over the weekend, and I played it thoughout, especially since I was given 4 days off due to golden week.
First off, I was duped when I originally bought this game. I was under the impression that the game was a RPG. However, soon after putting the disc in, I found out that the game isn\'t an RPG, but more like a platform?/action? game than an RPG. Basically you run around killing enemies that pop up, and solve little puzzles that come here and there. Its been a while since I last played such a game (Mario 64?), so it took a little getting used to at first.
There is one thing I don\'t like about the game, and I\'ll get through with it first. I don\'t like the camera/character controls. Often times, when you\'re jumping, the camera turns on you in midair, and so does the direction you\'re jumping in. There\'s nothing more irritating than trying to get to a higher platform, only to have the camera turn on you in midair so that you miss the jump, and you end up falling down...
Graphicwise, the game is really nice. I\'m not completely sure, but I believe that Square mixed in some anti-aliasing in the game. If you find any pictures online from the game, take a look at Tarzan\'s hair. I dunno, I was impressed. Other than the anti-aliasing, I just have to say, the disney characters are rendered perfectly. All their motion/facial features are intact, and everything flows very smoothly. When you\'re sitting there playing the game, sometimes you forget that you\'re looking at polygons rendered by a computer game, and you start thinking that you\'re watching a Disney animation. Really.. its that good.
The story so far is good. It brings back to life many of the classic disney moments, and mixed it all nicely into the storyline of the game. Its really a treat for anyone who\'ve seen numerous Disney movies in the past. I personally am not much of a Disney fan (I worked there part time for 4 years) and truth be told, I haven\'t seen a Disney animation for about 4 years now, but the game still has that disney fantasy touch to it, and is really a nice treat.
On square\'s side of the characters... a lot of you know about Tidus, Wakka, Cloud, Cid, Selphie, but there\'s a few other FF characters that are mixed in the game that still have yet to be mentioned. Its really a surprise coming across a lot of the characters that you once played with, and its a nice treat being able to sit there and talk to FF characters that have come and gone. (did I just say gone?) The FF characters don\'t really follow their own storylines, or their character profiles much, but its still nice. For example, Cloud isn\'t the lost/confused little individual anymore, but more of a level headed cool hero type of character.
Anyhoo, the game is presented really well, and I\'m still not really bored of the game yet, so its a good note. I especially like the opening FMV, cuz I like Utada Hikaru, and it was kind of like a Promotion Video type of feel.
Any questions, feel free to ask. I\'ll answer whatever I can.
