Your Gfx card history
« on: July 15, 2002, 02:35:16 PM »
Now this is a little more interesting than "post your system specs," in my opinion.... :)  I\'m still doing my best in kicking this forum off too, heh.

I\'ll start.

1997-1998?

nVidia Riva 128 w/ 3dfx Voodoo 2: Ah, back in the day, owning a Voodoo 2 was really a treat. Played basically everything beautifully. Setup was killer cause it had my PII 233 w/ 96MB of ram.

1998? (Summer)

3dfx Voodoo 3 2000: Now this was a real treat. When I first got this card, I couldn\'t stop playing games, literally. Ran everything so smooth at a great rate. Even ran UT at acceptable rates....... then came along Q3, and being this card was stuck in my PII 233, ugh. I had a great time with my Voodoo 3.

2000 (Summer)

3dfx Voodoo 5 5500: I bought this card regardless of reviews, I was a 3dfx addict, loyal fan, I was all for their next product. I purchased the card when I was building a new PC for myself. Was I in owe! Running Q3 in 32bit color on my PIII 667 was really an expirence I\'d never forget. I once again got into games, and I\'d be playing them night in and night out. Then I realized, the reality of the card. I was dissapointed as time went on about performance and what not....then I upgraded to a AMD Athlon 1.4Ghz processor, new motherboard, new ram, and I was re-aqainted with my V5. I remember how fast Q3 ran in timedemo when I fired it up. I still love it\'s FSAA. I can remember just playing NFS:5 for hours......

So.... share your expirences!
You think positive, I\'ll think realistic.

To go a few years back, to when  gfx cards were becoming a big part of the system.

Matrox Millenium G100 4mb with a Voodoo 2 12mb
upgraded to a Matrox Millenium G200 8 mb
Then up to a Diamond Viper V770 TNT2 32 mb
Ge-Force sdr (a short relationship)
and now using an outdated Ge-Force 2 GTS.

before that I was young and didn\'t really give a rats ass about the gfx card.
I recently discovered that my ass is the key to the universe.....now I must fight to protect my ass from those who might abuse it!!!

Gezz,
My first real good card was a
Nvidia Viper 128
with 2 monster3d 2 12meg cards. Used them in SLI
Then got a Geforce DDR 32meg card.
Now on the Geforce2T400 64meg card.

Next will be a GF3 128meg DDR card. :)
If a GF4 is cheap by then. I\'ll just get that. I\'m really after the new Series Nvidia are gonna release.

I\'ve had other cards. But these were the only decent ones.

Hmm, lemme see... From earliest to current card:

1) Trident something (½ meg of RAM)
2) S3 Virge 3D (4 megs I think)
3) 3dfx Voodoo
4) 3dfx Voodoo 3 3000

I think that\'s it. :)

First of all I\'d just like to say that this board is great. It is an acknowledgment of the supreme gaming machine, the PC. Its about time it finally got official recognition arround here.

Anyhoo, video card history....
Not sure about dates, but the order is chronological.

1.S3 Trio 64, 2MBRAM!
2.3dfx Voodoo2, 12MBRAM!
3.GeForce2 MX, ORIGINAL

AND NOW:

4.GeForce4 Ti 4200, 64MB of BLAZING FAST DDR SDRAM!
