Is the S-video cable worth getting for Ps2?

Does it make the picture better or not? Is it enough difference to warrant a purchase?

it depends on what you are using right now, if you are using Coax(RF cable)....YES!, Composite (RCA RGB cable)....it helps, Component (Y,PB,BR I think that is the color code on it, it is just the video inputs (Atleast for the Monster cable)....there is a differnce between S-video and Component but you need a big TV to see it. I went with component on mine (my tv is a 18" that has 3 inputs and one output).

IM using the a/v cables the Ps2 comes with. I recently bought a new tv and it\'s got s-video capabilities. My dvd player looks considerably better with it, and i was wondering if the s-video cables that Pelican and Interact ( are there official s-video cables?) have on the market improve the visual picture of the Ps2.

The Sony s-video cables are of decent quality, and you will see a marked difference when upgrading from the current composite rca cables that you are presently using. Personally, I wouldn\'t buy anything made by Interact or Pelican because their products seem to be of cheap construction and flimsy. Though not sure of how their cabling stacks-up.

Reallyt depends alot on the quality of your TV as well.

but for me S_Video made a difference. Monster cables are a tad better but quite a bit more expensive.

I got the monster cables and they are great! before i had the good TV in my room and my folks had a DVD Player I strung the S-video Monster cable from my room to the living room (about 10-20 feet worth) with no loss in picture. it is worth it but the Monster Component cables only have the video so you need the audio cables......the S-video had the audio and video........what size is your TV?

Thanks guys, i will search around for the official one. I have always been very pleased with Philips products ( i got a VHS, cd writer, dvd and now a tv) so i bought one of their 19" tvs.

It looks fantastic and dvd looks great with S-video. Since i havent seen the official Ps2 S-video cable i was wondering if the third party ones will improve the picture.  Im with Zavijava here and i dont trust Pelican or Interact very much so i asked first since i havent since many online reviews for these products.  But  judging by some of your comments my best bet is to search around for the SOny S-video cable.
