Australia\'s Federal Government are supporting a project which would mean the construction of the world\'s tallest man-made structure. The 1km tall tower would be an environmentally friendly provider of renewable energy.
A company called EnviroMission is proposing the construction of the concrete tower which will cost Aus.$800m and will be visible from 100km away."The ... venture will represent the world\'s first full-scale application of this new solar technology."
The tower will produce 650 GW hours a year and EnviroMisssion hope to build 5 of them by the year 2010. The project will help the country to meet its MRET, Mandated Renewable Energy Target, reducing greenhouse gasses and providing new forms of energy.

I personally think this is alittle excessive, I mean, geez, do we really need something like this? You could probably see them from the moon.
