Anybody using S-Video here with their PS2? I\'d just bought a S-Video cable(with a Guncon input) for my PS2 and I must say it\'s well worth the money. The colour are shapers and it has actually improved(although not eliminated) the dreaded shimmeries on the PS2! If u are not using this yet, I suggest u try it out.

Questions:
(1) anybody here have one of those VGA box converter for PS2 that support progressive scan? How does it looks on the monitor?

(2) Has anybody try linking their PS2 to the PC via gadgets like action Replay or that link cable(Naplink , i think that\'s the name)?

(3) What other funny gadgets are there for the PS2 u\'ve tried?

I\'m thinking of getting one gizmo called \'Memory Card station\' from an online site that\'s supposely can read/write data to PS2/PS1 memory cards and interchange this data with the PC.

Why bother with the "Memory Card Station"? The PS2 is online now.. and it\'ll only be a VERY short while before sites begin hosting PS2 savegame files for people to download, not to mention you being able to Email game files to friends. The only reason to get one would be for the PSX.. but since the Magic Gate allows you to use PSX cards too, I don\'t see why the PS2 wouldn\'t be able to send those over the internet as well.

I have an S-Video plug had is since my Playstation and I never stop praising that plug.  It does make a difference.

As for your question about the vga box I\'ve heard numerous times that the PS2 cannot output a true progressive signal and only shows interlaced video at a higher monitor resolution or something like that so you\'d only get a slight benefit over S-Video by using that especially since they\'re a rip off at $59 last time I checked in the mall.  As always I could be wrong one of the experts might be able to help you out.

I\'m not sure if our old tv set can support S-Video cables. I know that most new models do.

If you wanna know if it does check in the back for a round plug it kinda looks like a pc plug wiht a bunch it tiny holes into it.  Or you can just try all the Video in channels on you tv to see if one of them is S Video my current TV is over 6 years old and it supports S video.

Yeah, mine is about 6 to 7 years old too and it has S-Video. :)

Sonyfan: Maybe so, but the Memory card is convenient device if you want to transfer your games to the PC hd to store as secondary storage and also hack the files( a favorite hobby of mine :)

If u need to hook up everytime to the net to transfer and hack, then it\'s rather inconveninet!!

Not really, jus head to the browser when you\'re getting ready to shut down.. hook to the net - Email it - then hack away on your PC. Email it back when you\'re done. It\'s a little farther way around, but for the money you\'ll save on hardware I definatly think it\'s worth it.

I\'ve been using the SharkPort, and I gotta say that directly using the PS2 would be more convenient... maybe.  I just don\'t have a USB cable as long as my controller so I have to move the laptop close to the TV if I want to use the dirn thing.

Also, it would be cool if the .sps extension were a valid uploadable file extension here at Central... maybe not such a great idea though.  People might abuse it.

Then it would be like it was at the dex drive site...memories of my first forum.  Trading saves is a good way to back all the crap people talk sometimes by showing that you actually are good at games. Who know maybe someday we\'ll be able to do that here.

How long do you think it will be until some jackass decides to create a virus to wipe out your memory cards?  Or your Hard drive for that matter?

BTW; are you sure that the PS2 online will allow exchanging game files? If there is, I can see Sony making it literally impossible to alter the files using the standard equipment. On the Linux Kit, Sony for example, disabled reading game-saves while booted up.

There are already programs that have been made to alter game save data.  Home Grown windows programs have been created to inject cash, and create hybrid cars in Gran Turismo 3 gamesaves, as well as a utility that extracts replay data so race directors can find cheaters using forbidden car parts for online events.

I think it\'s too late, for the games that have already been released at least.
