Ps2 Acting Wierd
« on: September 14, 2002, 05:11:38 PM »
I don\'t know why my ps2 is doing this, but my reset button dosen\'t work anymore.  When I go to switch a new game in and tap the reset button, my system turns off (when before holding in the reset button for a few seconds would turn it off.)  It\'s not that big a deal, but I hope it\'s not a sign that my ps2 is about to die.  Anybody else have this problem before?

Yes I do have the adaptor, i\'ve had it for a few weeks now and it only yesterday starting doing this.  But if others have the same thing happening then maybe it\'s just a side-effect of the adaptor..along with that freaky orange flash from the grill.

Supposedly the freaky orange flash is the hard drive led that flashes once when the adapter is powered up....I read this somewhere on google groups.  I guess it makes since because I think mine only flashes once, but then again I usually don\'t pay close attention.  By the way JBean, does your reset problem only happen on games that have an online function, or does it happen on all games?   It seems that I only have my reset problem when playing games off the demo disc that came with the adapter...

Since I got Madden online that\'s all I ever play lately.  Maybe i\'ll try and see if it\'s only doing this with online games.

I don\'t have any other online games as of yet (not a big football fan) or I would try to see if it is indeed related to online play.   Maybe someone else out there that owns SOCOM or Madden 2K3 can tell us if they have had any reset problems when playing these games....

Yea, ya think Sony would at least give an explanation, but if they mentioned a problem I guess then they would have to fix it...

yeah, I have the reset problem, and the orange spark.  I thought that it might have just been a light, cause Im never really looking at the PS2 when Im playing, but I payed extra close attention last time, and it was a spark.  It better not break my PS2 I will scream.  Loud

I read somewhere that the orange flash is actually the harddrive LED that supposedly flashes when the network adapter is first powered up or initialized.....Again this is something I read so it may not be true....I just can\'t believe that it could be a spark.  Sony would have already noticed somthing that significant by now....

Yeah, the orange flash is a LED on the Mainboard that only lights up during booting up an online capable game.  And the reset button worked after playing a little GT3 but occured again resetting madden.  So the reset issues are only with games that are online capable and really isn\'t a big deal to me.

Think the online capabillity disables the reset button for a reason?  Could be something intentionally included to prevent mistakes and frustration.

Just a theory... a weak one, but possible.
