Why won\'t my PAL PS2 SCPH39004 accept DVDRegionX ?

 Damn, this week my ol\'PS2 broke down. I had it since the PAL launch (I\'m in Europe) It\'s the SCPH30004. I used the RGB cable with it and thanx to DVDRegionX I was able to watch multiple region dvd movies. But now it seems the new SCPH39004 PS2 won\'t accept the DVDRegionX disc. It triggers the "please insert a Playstation or Playstation2 disc" screen. Damnit. Now I can only watch region 2 dvd movies and I have to watch it through the crappy video cable that comes with the package. Does anyone know of a new DVDRegionX version for the PAL PS2 SCPH39004 ?

i got a dvd region x, so has he, i took my cky seires ( region1) over to my mates, and as my mate live round the corner, i used my dvd region x on it, wouldnt work......, so went back to his, got it, used his and it worked...


so maybe when you have used it once, it get burnt on the card part ( mine has a bit you  have to put in memory card slot.... my mates doesnot) so buy a new dvd region x and try it... if it works put the old one back in the box and take it back......

For some reason the new ps2 don\'t like the 1st generation region x disc. I don\'t know why though.

There are 2 types of region x, one with the memory adaptor and one without. The one without the memory adaptor is the newer version so try that one on your new console.

Thanx for the reply guys. But... my DVDRegionX is the version
with only the disc. I bought it around Febr 02. Mmmm, it\'s really
annoying becuz this situation renders this Ps2\'s DVD playback possibilties back to barebones quality again. I guess I\'ll have to ask if there\'s a solution in game shops. :crap:  And I was just
about to buy a DTT3500 speaker set or that Playworks PS2000
for nice sound when watching dvd\'s. I\'m gonna postpone that
purchase for SURE, until this sh1t is resolved.

I believe it to have something to do with pirated software. Region X has been known to have been used to
boot copied ps2 software. this is a good move by sony to lock out the Region X software in some ways
but i can see how it would offend others. Sony may have not had to go to such extremes but it seems to me
that they are simply covering bases. the ps2 scene is rife with pirated software and mods. sony have done
a lot of work on this version ps2 (v7) and have seemed to overcome some of the issues that made the earlier
versions of PS2 easily modified to play illegal software and backups. good move sony.

Well, they could at least let me watch my region 2 dvd\'s through my RGB cable

lol that sucks, im sure i saw a lead that changes automatically between full scart and the crap scart you get witht he ps2.. dont know who its by , sorry i cant give you more info.. but hope you find it, i hate the green o vision 2, one of the reasons i got a dvd region x
