Oh, and the PS2 does have a game which can compete with Shenmue graphically.. as soon as Konami gets around to releasing it. Silent Hill 3 looks to be the first game on the PS2 to really break the "DC" barrier and produce graphics that even the DC\'s top game couldn\'t match. Bout f\'ing time isn\'t it?

Even comparing the two games is laughable.  
I saw a looong thread at Beyond3D comparing the Shenmue tech demo (they called it "head demo" to SH3 ingame graphics..  Funny

No console this generation even touches the SNES.  The 16-bit era was by far the most progressive and enjoyable, back in the day when it was about gameplay and not graphics.

I\'d just like to point out a few things...

1) The DC does not have Radiant SilverGun 2. It has Ikragua! Yes, it was code-named RS2, but it is not Radiant SilverGun 2. Even though, it could rightfully be the true sequel.

2)The DC does indeed have Resident Evil: Code Veronica X - It is called Bio Hazardl: Code Veronica Complete and it was only released in Japan. But, it was indeed released.

3) Saying GTA3\'s freedom is more fun than Shenmue\'s is objective and opionated. Example? I thought GTA3 was crap and found it boring and can\'t understand why on earth anyone would want to play such garbage. On the other hand, I found Shenmue and Shenmue 2 to be two of the most engaging and original games in along time. It\'s all objective and opinion based.

4) MGS2 and Shenmue cinematics. First off, I can\'t believe anyone would even want to debate on cinematics, but oh well. Second, MGS2 is nothing but frickin\' cinema\'s. Where as Shenmue\'s cinema\'s are few and short. There is no 40 mintue cinema about a super solider or whatever. Ugh..Don\'t even get me started on this..

5) Calling Animal Crossing a game with little animals where you make towns is just plain ignorant. Give me a break. At least try it and get a clue on what it is about before you trash it. The game is highly original, enjoyable and addictive for all ages. Also, I wasn\'t talking about your comment when I listed those games. I was reffering to "Games" comment earlier in the thread.

MGS2 is a great game even with its long cinematics.Its still one of the greatest games.

Of course not, but by and large it looks much better than ~most~ of the games on the PS2. While it may not be technically  graphically superior, the end product of what you see on the screen did look better than most PS2 games up until recently (IMO). It\'s mainly because of the way it was constructed to hide or downplay it\'s shortcommings.. as it was able to pull off some amazing visuals which one wouldn\'t think possible on the Dreamcast.

These shortcommings are obvious (and even a bit painful compaired to the rest of the game) when you look at expansive scenes (like looking out over Hong Kong from the top of the Yellow Head Building).. however scenes like the Firefly pool, Cave Campout, Nozomi\'s Farewell, and even mundane locations like the Mahjoong parlor were extremely well detailed... and made up the vast majority of the game.

I\'m not saying that ~NO~ game has ever reached Shenmue\'s level of graphics on the PS2.. just that VERY FEW have.. and it\'s only now that average games are starting to match Shenmue\'s level of detail while others (like SH3) are clearly surpassing it. This is something I consider unexcusable considering the massive gap in graphical power these two machines have between them.

thanks for clarifying that SonyFan. The reason why I asked, is because I do know quite a lot of people out there who strongly believe Shenmue to be the best and most graphically impressive thing out...

Favorite Consoles Ever:

SNES, Genesis, N64, DC

Going by the amount of fun I had playing them these are easily my favorite consoles. N64 is probably my favorite multiplayer console ever(Mario Kart, Goldeneye, THQ/AKI Wrasslin Games, etc). The DC had SO many AAA games in such a short period of time. There is absoluttely no reason why the DC should have died out so early. The PS2 had no games to compare to the DC when they discontinued it.
