What ~is~ the average salary in Mexico?
The average Salary in Mexico is about $1100 USD a month. Yes is low! Of 70 million Mexicans in working age about 40% earns less than $600 USD a month bringing the average way down. But 10% makes 5,000 USD. or more a month, 15% makes between 2,500 and 5,000 and 25% makes between $1,500 and 2,500 making that a 35 million people market that can easily afford a 300 USD console. Seeing it that way the Mexican market is bigger than many European markets

You will be amazed how well the X-Box is going to sell. Mexico is a country where Video Games are very popular. All my friends here in Mexico have at least one console and many of them even 2. And as I said before: Mexico is a market of well over 35 million people.

Seriously though, I didn\'t even know they had system launches in Mexico. You never hear about them. If that is the case - what\'s the PS2 cost there? And how do they expect a primarily poor country to have people pay $300 dollars for it? I just don\'t see the logic....Erm...
This is the first official launch made by a videogame company. We have had Nintendo launches but made by distributors and not really by Nintendo, This distributor launched the NGC the same day as it was launched in the states but the price at that moment was $550 USD. Around 10,000 were sold in the first two months at that price.
The PS2 is not officially launched here, but you can buy it from $220 USD (In the black market, imported without paying taxes) to $400 USD in local stores that import it from the states. The Nintendo GC is also $400 USD in local stores and $165 in the black market. The black market here in Mexico is a big issue, because we are so close to the states many people do business buying the consoles in there without paying taxes because is supposed to be for export and then they bring the console to Mexico without paying taxes. I think that with a official launch Microsoft will combat the black market because the price is really almost as in the USA (The real price of the X-Box in the USA is $199 plus tax. Here in Mexico is $295 with tax) and you get a warranty and technical support.

I think for the most part they are called illegal drug dealers, right?
Nope!!! The drug dealers are really all in the states. Mexicans are producers. We plant the drug and sell it to you so your "Illegal drug dealers" can sell it to your children’s at school. Maybe the American market in a couple of years won’t have a official console launch by Microsoft because children’s will be using their parents money to buy drugs instead of games.

If I was Mexican, I\'d probly worry more about food or medical care than buying an Xbox.. but then again.. I\'d probly also end up getting a job at the place that assembles Xboxes and just steal one from the assembly line.
Then use it to bribe a boarder patrol guard to let me slip into the USA since it would cost two month\'s wages just to buy a single game for it.
Why will your border patrol guard will want an X-Box? They are rich as all Americans and can buy a X-Box by them selves. I\'m Mexican and I don\'t worry about food just as 100% of Mexico population. We are a rich country in matter of food! And about social security we don\'t worry neither because social security in Mexico is FREE!! YES!! FREE!!! The government have around 4000
in all the country to give FREE medical care at all levels. But let me tell you something If I was American, I\'d probly worry more about safety in my house, work, school and even in the gas station than buying an Xbox.

That\'s the same question I would like to ask the Microsoft people.
