I dunno.

But they should be able to do it in software, I would think, if the developers really wanted it...

If I\'m wrong on this, someone correct me.

Currently, I don\'t know of any game myself, but there\'s no doubt that you can do it. Jason Rubin did say that the Jak & Daxter engine does support it, so here\'s hope of them using it in their next game. If there\'s one thing the PS2\'s good at, then it\'s suprising stupid little wannabes like BizioEE that a 2 year older system can still compete very well with newer ones.

*points to Silent Hill 3, WRC2 etc

Unfortunately, not all developers seem to be that motivated.

I heard that TTT did not have bump mapping, but that the grounds were done completely with polygons and not with lighting tricks.  So, to this day, there is no PS2 game that does bump mapping.

I tell you what though, DMC to this day is still one of the best looking games ever IMO.  People will say that it had poor textures and some low polygonal characters, but this does not take away from the beauty that is DMC.  Games like ICO and DMC show that even with a technically inferior console, if you have good artists, your game can be superior graphically.  (Even without bumpmapping!!! *gasp*)

Artistic >> Technical

Just so no one jumps on me, I\'m not saying that Doom 3, Fable, don\'t look great, because they do.

I hope the gameplay is as tight as DMC1\'s ..
But the graphics are nothing to get excited about, not when compared to other new games, for example SH3 :)

Well if the game runs at constant 60 fps with the detail shown above then I guess yes the there is a reason to be excited about the graphics.Unless compared with SH3 as u said.Which has so much detail you can see muscles on their face moving even on their forhead when the characters speak or show emotions(I think its got the best facial expressions ever created in a game).

Even the old mans shirt. You can tell by the picture the shirt\'s colar needs some ironing.

 OMFG Fastson, that is awesome. I thought it was a real-life picture at first. Amazing.

On the DMC2 note: it looks like a lot of the same monster-splattering, zombie-crushing, high-jumping-gun-blasting-action...... YAY!
