Silly question!
« on: October 31, 2002, 05:10:26 AM »
This is gonna sound like a very silly question(because it is one),but i was just wondering about this and its been driving me mad all week.

My ps2(bless him/her) is located in the same room as my parents sun tanning canopie and I was wondering if the infrared beams can hurt my ps2 in any way?Call me crazy but I would really like to get an answer(insert paranoid smiley)

Thanx in advance.

Marge: Well, you could clean the garage, mow the lawn, paint the house...
Homer: Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. I\'m just trying to get in, not run for Jesus.

yeah true, I can\'t see any long term effects though but like the kopster said move it to be safe...and don\'t even attempt to ask if it\'s safe to be in the middle of your microwave and toaster! lol

Just to set things straight its not under the tanning device its just in the same room so its not actually exposed to the direct beams but I was just wondering if it had anny effects.

Thanx for replying fellas/ladies.

I don\'t think it\'s a silly question. I think it WOULD be silly if you didn\'t ask, and then it did actually knacker your PS2 up.

If in doubt, ask someone. More often than not, somebody else will be thinking the same thing as you.
Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you. I don't care where you've  been or what you plan to do. I am the resurrection and I am the light. I  couldn't ever bring myself to hate you as I'd like.

Well it emits UV beams not IR beams. UV beams have a lot higher energy density than IR. I do not know for sure if it can damage electronics but I sincerely doubt it damages anything though.

If it does, you\'ll probably notice it on the plastic casing first, if the black starts fading to grey i\'d start getting worried hehehe. Shouldn\'t be a prob.
Maybe Bossieman can answer this question, if he\'s still around that is.

I am still here, but not as often as I used to do.
Well to the question.
The answer is no, the sun tanning canopies light can not hurt your ps2. The electromagnetic waves that is emitted is totally harmless for your ps2. (all light is electromagnetic wawes).
You see your PS2 recives tons of electromgnetic waves all the time and it survies it easy, No worry.
