We need more cool games like Mark Of Kri and less crap like the Army Men games!  LIC, I feel your pain, this is sad news.  This could have been a great franchise for Sony, if they put the effort to promote the game.  Well, time to get my ass kicked in Contra!

You know, I wasn\'t really really that excited about the Getaway....the newer screen shots doesn\'t looks that hot anymore..

But then again, I\'m probably the only person on this board that hates GTA.

Anyone who hates GTA drop a post here so that I won\'t feel so lonely... :)

Ahem. Dark Cloud was a greatest hit and well, mark of kri wasnt, (sorry if anybody said this already). I havent played mok yet but i plan on doing so. DC was also said to be the "zelda killer" and thus brought on lots of publicity. Why mok didnt do so well is beyond me. The getaway has had its fair share of glory before its release due to its gta like gameplay and its stunning graph-x. Maybe sony used mok as an expirement, but they also developed the game themselves so technically it would be more money to make a sequel, (i think). SOHO studios is in charge of this beauty and im guessing that do to the success of the gta series sony beleives that success is inevitable for this gta like game.

Oh well.

Paul - it\'s okay, I almost hate the GTA series. I slightly (very slightly) enjoy Vice City due to the 80\'s settings. Other than that, I detest the series.

As for MoK doin\' bad, it is because Sony was never commited to the project  / franchise. They done everthing half-assed. Hell, does anyone even really remember any coverage of the game while it was in development? I don\'t . After it was released Sony conitnued to ignore it.

DC was crap - but they wanted a Zelda clone , so they commited to that. The Getaway may end up being crap, but they want a GTA clone - so they\'re commited to that. I guess what we can say is , Sony is commited to making quick cash in\'s and clones of other games. Brilliant Sony, simply f**kin\' brilliant.

Why would they plan the series into being a trilogy (and even go as far as pattenting the Battle system) if they weren\'t committed?

But on the other hand, why wouldn\'t they advertise it (apart from that annoying add at IGN that I always get) if they were committed?

The Getaway was originally being planned as a PSX game, and first got major recognition when it was announced for PS2.  Under the guise of a "3D Grand Theft Auto" game.  Sony were committed to try and innovate in that sence.  It just so happens that GTA3 snuck up and was released (and rushed) before Getaway, and now Vice City has released.

My point is, calling it a GTA clone (at least GTA3 clone) is unfair, as the game\'s premise was conceived well before GTA3 was.
