nba 2k3, Live 03 or neither?
« on: December 12, 2002, 08:23:40 PM »
I want a basketball game for christmas but i am torn on these two. There seemed to be pros and cons for each and many mixed reviews. Should I just not bother and go with a football game for Christmas? Or.....should I just get something (suggestions please).

check out gamerankings.com, they have a collection of reviews on both.

I prefer NBA2k3, it is better in almost every area.  however it isn\'t for everyone, if you like sims then 2k3 is your game, if you like dunkfests then live is what you want.

thanks man. I figured 2k3 looked better. If i wanted dunk fests i would just pull out my copy of NBA Street. Plus I heard the gameplay of Live gets a little repetative because it\'s so easy to get fast breaks

IMO nhl2k3 is the best

I have NBA Live 2003 and yes it does get repetive.  Although multiplayer is the most fun that i have had with a bball game since street.

If you want a simulation and a game that you can play alone a lot, i would go with nba2k3.  NBA2003 focuses on cool moves and amazing layups, while nba2k3 is a little closer to the real thing.  Like mm said about sega vs ea sports, it is all about your preference.

yeah i don\'t really have a preference and that\'s my problem. The more i read about NBA 2k3 the better it sounds. I just wish the basketball games were up to the high standard that all the great EA/Sega football games. It seems like there some small flaws to each that keep them off of that top teir of games.

I have played both and I prefer Live. While NBA2k3 is more realistic, Live is simply more fun, and isnt that what its all about?

I gotta agree w/ mobius here...Live is a throwback to the PSX Live games...just good fun.

Also, honestly, the game is as real as you want it to be.  All the moves are there, and if you don\'t play some strategy on the computer AI, you\'re toast on the high levels...and it has cooler moves and dunks.

I\'m a Live man, myself.
