Chemical Factory Found In Iraq
« Reply #15 on: March 23, 2003, 08:05:34 PM »
From what I hear, the plant was camouflaged so that it couldn\'t be photographed from the air, protected by electrical fences and armed soldiers, and managed by a general. One of our soldiers was injured by an explosive booby trap at that plant... if this was a plant designed to produce shampoo or something, then fine. I guess them Iraqis are uptight about industrial espionage.

Other inspectors have said they have been to that area earlier this year. They said they did not find anything there in the area before.

So perhaps they missed it? Or the US planted it (no pun intended), or modified an already existing plant? Which one is more believable?

First and foremost...

It is not yet known what chemicals were being produced at the plant.

oh yeah...like they\'re making Head and Shoulders shampoo in there...yeah, they need to protect shampoo factories with electric fences and camouflage.

No doubt about it, Iraq\'s shampoo is the country\'s prized possession. *sarcasm*

It\'s being investigated. It still looks like a chem factory. Even if it isn\'t, there is more where that came from. By the way, Scott Ritter is about as credible as Mr. Blix. Which means zero credibility.

Why doesn’t Blix or Ritter have any credibility? :)

Are they "anti-american"?      Because they don’t report the news you want to hear?

Btw, has this "story" been confirmed by any independent source yet?
Last night everyone was quoting each other. (BBC/Sky/Cnn -> Fox News -> Jerusalem Post -> “sources” inside Pentagon)

Well, Ritter is chasing little underage girls and Blix, well lets just say that  my friend Per Ahlmark says not to listen to him. :)

Other than Pentagon info and hearing news info it seems that it is more and more likely a chem. factory.

To tell the truth I dont know much about Ritter.. All I know is that he\'s been looking for these weapons for the past 7 years.
So he should know what he\'s talking about. Or maybe he\'s just jealous over him not finding it first.

I told you not to listen to Peppe. He\'s seen as a public joke over here ;)

Again, does anyone know if a independent source has confirmed this yet?

Ritter is the least credible source anyone could cite regarding the state of Iraq\'s chemical weapons production.  For one he has contradicted himself on many occassions and for another he did try and lure an underage girl to a Burger King via the internet as Ace pointed out.

If that\'s true it really doesn\'t matter. There will be plenty of evidence.

No, you forget Blix was suppose to do all this and more in a short amount of time...

As for the chemical factory - I find it funny that it was abandoned. Everyone all worked up, thinking they found their chemical and biological weapons   and yet..finding nothing.

hmm.

Well lets see the report. I would imagine they would flee the building with troops coming through the gates.

Its a such big building that it would have been crazy if the inspectors missed it. Even if they only had a short time to search.

I would supect Saddam to hide his weapons in the most unthinkable places. Like the taliban turban or something ;)

Also when there is only one source to go buy (JP), you should get suspicious.
