133 mhz ram?
« on: May 06, 2003, 05:31:13 AM »
My wife and I recently inherited a semi-new computer a few weeks ago, an Athlon 1.2 ghz with 128mb of PC133 ram.  My wife does a lot of video editing, which is very ram intensive and she\'s been complaining of the speed of the rendering.  She often gets the message during rendering about enlarging the Virtual memory size on the hard drive.

My question is, I have 128mb\'s of PC100 ram readily available from our old computer....will it work?  Can I put the pc100 in the new computer alongside the pc133?

it "may" work

if it\'s name brand ram, it could work, but it might also burn out and take yer motherboard with it

133 ram is dirt cheap
best bet is to go buy some

Yeah I figured as much, and I don\'t want to risk messing up our new comp.  I\'ll probably just pick up a 256mb stick of some pc133 for like 40 bones..

Change the bios settings on the board.. Set it too 100mhz. Then put in the mem. The board you have is probably newer then my old BX2000+ board. That even used to downclock the mhz rate to match the lowest mem speed.

But if u just buy extra ram you\'ll not have to worry either way. :)
