"AGP 8X Pro graphics options from NVIDIA or ATI"

I\'m sorry but I\'m a Mac n00b, but doesn\'t Apple usually make the everything for their own computers?  Have nVidia and ATi been making cards for a long time?

8gb of DDR is insane lol!!  I guess that\'s the way it should be so we don\'t ave to fool with virtual memory anymore.

New case too, in the PowerBook style, metal. Has a bunch of fans but it\'s quieter than previous systems.

Still has handles but more minimal than the old ones. Can\'t quite make out if they still have some form of the fold out mobo door. Looks like a normal sliding panel but I\'m pretty sure they have some kickass feature.

Is that silver square thing on their site the new case?  It\'s horrid looking.  The old one was much, much better.

Panther is the newest version of it yes, Apple has a history of using internal codenames for their products.

Yep that silver square thing is the new case, I agree it doesn\'t look like much in the pics but I\'m holding judgment until I see one in person, I thought the Titanium PowerBooks didn\'t look like much until I saw one and my jaw dropped.

Oh sheit. Thats f*ing awesome. Sounds great. The only problem with me is that the current power macs and power books can run you up to 3100 dollars. When this hits, i can imagine that it will be a buck buster. And how much ram does it come with standard?

Damn Dual 2GHz G5\'s with 8GB of DDR Yummy:D

Panter is gonna be the shit. I will be upgrading for sure, as I am running Jaguar right now. I saw some leaked pictures of the newest features in Panther / OS X and it looks much improved.

As for the new G5\'s...*sigh* Expensive...:(

Is this the new apple core that can process 64 bit?  Or is this still 32 bit?

I was reading about that one the other day...

IT IS!

Course, now they have to re-write all the core coding and stuff, but it\'ll be worth it.  They\'ve waaay beaten the other CPU makers to the market with 64 bit too.

*EDIT*

US PRICES:

Quote

THE COST
The Power Mac G5 starts at $1,999, with a 1.6 gigahertz PowerPC G5. The Power Mac G5 with a 1.8 gigahertz processor starts at $2,399, while the top of the line Power Mac G5, with dual 2.0  gigahertz processors, starts at $2,999, Apple said. The company said it expects to ship the first machines in August.

A BIT ABOUT 64 BIT:

Quote

WHAT\'S 64-BIT?
A computer\'s speed is defined by how fast it digests the 1\'s or 0\'s--called bits--that compose every piece of information in the electronic world. Pentiums and other processors in PCs are 32-bit chips, meaning they swallow 32 of those 1\'s and 0\'s with each tick of their internal clock. (The clock ticks fast: 4.3 billion times a second in a 4.3-gigahertz Pentium.) 64-bit chips take 64 bits at a time--they crunch double the data.

Right in time for my birthday - so if anyone wants to buy me, feel free ! ;)

I am hopin\' they will lower the prices on the Powerbooks just a tad more.. I\'d jump on the bandwagon and buy one if they would just come down a hundred or so dollars.
