NF7-S and heatsink troubles
« on: July 30, 2003, 02:11:02 PM »
Alright, about half a month ago (ugh) I bought an Abit NF7-S.  The thing turned out to be a dud (wouldn\'t detect processors) based on all the testing I did (different PSU\'s CPU\'s, RAM, Heatsinks) so I RMA\'d it back to newegg.com, where I bought it.  I just got my new board back from them and I noticed on the back of the box it says just plain old NF7-S.  My old board\'s box said NF7-s 2.0.

However, on the actual board itself it says v2.0.  Do you think they just put it in the wrong box or something?  Or did I really get an old version?  Since I RMA\'d a v2.0, I\'d expect the same thing sent back to me.

Another thing, I have an SLK800U (uses the mounting holes) heatsink I bought as well, but I\'m not sure it\'s on right.  Do I just have to scew the scews all the way down?  Thermalright\'s website has horrible instructions.  I\'m really wishing I had bought the A version so I would just have clipped it on and be done with it.

Oh, and one last question.  Does anyone know how to put on those damn faceplates that come with the NF7-S?  You know, the one that covers all the ports on the board.

with the slk, make sure it sits firm, also make sure you\'re using thermal gel. NOT much of it, very thin layer..  As thick as your nail, no thicker. If the board has REV 2.0 or V 2.0 printed on it, then it\'s the later revision. So you\'ve got nothing to worry about there.
As for the faceplate. I haven\'t used the board, so i have no idea sorry. :)

I bought this mobo a week ago and I didn\'t have problems, apart from the logicals ones related with configuration and such things. The mother board works great and detected everything perfectly.

Nataku, you are not the only one with problems in that faceplate.. I had too. It seems that it\'s not adjusted for normal cases and for me it\'s too bigger. I had to stick it with adhesive in order to avoid dust.
Todas estas cosas se perderán en el tiempo como lágrimas en la lluvia.
