Static belifes or dynamic beliefs?
« on: October 25, 2003, 08:11:31 AM »
I have noticed that I have changed completely the last year when it comes to my beliefs and understanding of the world. I would say this is the biggest change in my life ever.

If I had meet my self a year ago, I wouldnt agree especially much with the old Bossieman.
Has anyone else here changed there beliefs and understanding so much that you are a completely new human today?

How often do you changed your values and beliefs? Once a year, never, twice a day.
I am in a period when I now can see that I have gone in several years with the same values and beliefs that my parents put on to me. It took a lot of years to see that my values was just a mirror of my parents. Nowadays I have build up my own beliefs.

What about you people, are you a mirror of your parents or do you have completely different values? And if so, where do you think they come from?

My mother is the opposite of me. I am very anti-religious, and she is very pro.

It causes alot of arguements me being the only one like this in my very Catholic Family. I am excluded from family gathers, special events, and even my grandmothers funeral.

It just makes me mad, I accept their choice. Why the hell cant they accept mine?

My imediate logical beliefs are different than my parents, but I have deep-seeded issues that are a product of my up-bringing.

I know that the things my parents taught me as a child are not absolute fact, but for some reason they influence my emotions sometimes.

My family is very religious. I am "spiritual" but not religious(if that makes sense).

I don\'t think science or religion has all the answers for the simple fact that they both think they do. I try to take everything at face value(emphasis on try).

I sometimes wonder if we people are indeed ourselves. Our character and beliefs are according to what others teach us and the information we find.Do we really know if we are right or wrong on many matters?

Mother is off / on religious, but at heart is religious. My father has no religion, but belives in a higher power. I was raised religious, but through experiences in life, I formed my own beliefs.

I don\'t know if there is  \'God\'. I won\'t argue it. I will say, I don\'t care if there is one. I don\'t fear him. I don\'t worship him. I don\'t give him a second thought. If he is there, then fine. If not, big whoopie f**kin\' doo.  I don\'t believe in a life after death. I think we are just like every other animal and our singluar purpose is to breed and make sure the species goes on.

Then again, I also believe, if we did not have prison and certain society based rules, then we would see nothing wrong with rape and murder. You could say our "inner voice" lets us know its wrong, but it is just guilt forced onto us by society telling us what is right and what is wrong.

In one sense, I think we have ruined our own purpose. We created so many rules, that we gave up on natrual selection and survival of the fittest. Thus, we suffer from over-population.

My family is all religious and knows I\'m not, except my mom because she would disown me (seriously). Politically I have the same views as my parents. But me, my dad, and my sister all have a good sense of humor and aren\'t easily offended. But my mom is.

My mom= morally correct mom who does all the right things
my dad= as open as can be, and knows when not to be and is a neat freak
my sister= same as dad, but she is a hard worker
me= lazy, open, and agnostic

I AM DA trouble chald

.... thats my life story

In my constant study of human physiology and biology I change my beliefs pretty often as the science changes.  Little things like my views on protein intake and de novo lipogenesis have changed quite a bit over the past 3 months.

My beliefs have really never changed. My morals and views of the world have changed a bit though.
Don\'t try to confuse me with what you call  facts, my mind is already made up.
