Progressive Scan SCART to VGA?
« on: October 24, 2003, 03:27:47 PM »
Is it possible to make a cable that you connect from a SCART to a regular VGA cable? Would it work?

http://www.daveladd.demon.co.uk/pscart/scartpinout.html (SCART pinout)

Take 7 (Blue), 11 (Green), 15 (Red), 18 (Ground) and 20 (V-Sync) from the SCART and plug them into 1 (Red), 2 (Green), 3 (Blue), 5 (Ground) and 14 (V-Sync) on the VGA...

http://www.bbdsoft.com/video.html (VGA pinout)

..and get Progressive Scan on the monitor? Or do you need something more "in-between" the SCART and VGA?

I remember playing my PS2 via RGB cable on a computer monitor...

don\'t ask me how I did it if its not the norm because it wasn\'t too hard.

Will do kapten.

##RaCeR##: You connected it directly to the monitor or via the computer?
Maybe your monitor has ports for a RGB cable?

they have RGB-VGA converters.  I have one that goes VGA-RGB.
I wear a necklace now because I like to know when I\'m upside down.

I think I used a scaler??? I dunno, my dads the techno theatre freak. All I know is that it was definately RGB going into the monitor.

a scaler just takes an image and changes it to the scan rate you need.  it\'s a little more than what I am taking about.

Yeah I saw one.. Price 1200 + 800 for a component cable (Monster Cable was the only one I could find), that adds upp to 2000+ ($260) :(

If I could get the blueprint for that converter maybe I could see how its made.. I want to know if I need to "upscan" the signal or not. Anyone know if Progressive Scan is 15kHz or 30kHz?
