R.I.P. Printer...
« on: November 24, 2003, 04:35:12 PM »
The day has come; my Printer is dead.

Its an Epson Stylus. And was pretty pricy back in the day, but now its met its end, it printed out about 50 pages of just poop writing.

My question is this; what should I get to replace it?

I print ALOT (due to papers, writing music, etc.), and am hoping to get a scanner too, hopefully built in, because my computer station is already crammed full of devices.

Price range; 99-150.

I know Im cheap.

if you want epson they just released some new all in ones around 149.99 that are pretty nice

other wise you can get their older models of the all in ones the cx3200 - not that bad really just not as good as the newer ones

I\'d go HP.  It may not be the cheapest but they are sturdy mofos.  Our newer Canon isn\'t as nearly as reliable as our old HP.

well i would say hp as well - the 2415 i think it is at my work is a really nice printer scanner and all

and yes epsons all in ones have been in the returns a lot too lately - canon is worthless imo though - ink is way overpriced at retail locations

I chucked my epson crap in the bin and got a HP psc 2110 all in one printer photocopier and scanner. It\'s much faster and quieter than the epson.

I have two printers. The one attached to my Win98 computer is a Lexmark 5700. That prints black and no color. Then on my own slow computer (win 95 but doesn\'t crash like my Gateway does) I have a BJC-2010 but that only prints color. I can\'t win. We\'re getting a new printer as soon as I get my digital camera.

You rock! :D

I also got the HP 2110. Im very happy with it, no smearing the black ink like my last printer did. And printing photos on photo-paper looks just like the real thing (and Im not even using a Photo-ink-cartage)

Scanner is pretty good too (I only have a old AGFA scanner to compare it to, but IMO the built-in HP one is better, better quality and faster scanning.)

Well, after looking around at local shops I figured the best solution was to just fix it.

Took it apart.

Jesus, ****ing, christ.

I probably found about 10 pounds of dust, just grease, oil, ink every where. I cleaned it, and now it works- for now.

Well, now; Im just looking for a scanner.

But also; For x-mas I might get a new diggi-camera. Bleh! I dont know what to do. I will probably go with a new camera, instead of a printer. Just because I live in Alaska, and photography is great here- and I would save on film costs.

Go ahead and upgrade. While it may be cheapest to fix it - it\'s time for an upgrade.

Let the old things become obselete and buy the new things.
