Small stage. Small club / bar = idea setting for the band and fans. More personal all around.

Thank you, atleast somebody has some sense around here.

It\'s the only way to do it.  The place I go to around here where Opeth will be coming is so personal like that.  Last time I was at a show there I was like leaning on the guitarist\'s monitor, it was great.  That\'s the way I love it.  Big shows just can\'t compare.  I went to this giant metal festival in New Jersey a little over a month ago, and although the lineup of bands was incredible (although really poorly managed...how the hell do you give Symphony X only a half hour set on the secondary stage?  WTF?), it was just so big when you were at the main stage that it was really impersonal.  My favorite times while there were actually with lesser bands like Krisium on the secondary stage just cause it was a small group and you could get really close...almost like a small show.  Small shows are just so much more fun.

Under Spudz\' logic, bigger the arena, the better. However, even in those big stadiums, everyone pushes to get up so close with the band. Why? Because the point of the concert is to be up close and personal. Small venue gives you that with no fuss.

I loved my APC concert, but I could only wish that I would of seen then when they was touring the smaller clubs.

Curses to me for being offline.  You saw APC?  Did you make a thread?  I need you to describe it for me!

I\'ll be seeing them a couple days after you see Opeth.  I missed Opeth\'s last tour to Australia, I heard it was amazing, though.

I know I\'ve disgraced this thread upon entering with my horrendous taste in modern punk and emo music, but just curious... Do any of you mosh at these concerts? I know Opeth is pretty hardcore, so I\'m imagining some people possibly die at these concerts.

Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

Everyone has to mosh at least some.  I don\'t make a habit of it, but at times you just have to.  Opeth actually isn\'t the best moshing band I\'d think...they\'re a little softer.  Maybe for the right songs, but for a lot of their stuff it doesn\'t fit.

Moshing? NO!
Hell no!

If anything, you head bang to the louder songs and zone out to the soft songs.

And Bobo ...

There\'s the thread I wrote. Huge thread about APC , description of the opening band, the event, setlist and everything. Also about my first skydives.

People shouldn\'t mosh to Opeth songs, they\'re slow and melodic, mosh pits are for fast music where people go crazy.

When I went and saw Disturbed , Drowning Pool , Adema and Steromud at the first \'Music as a Weapon \' tour, I moshed. I moshed a lot.

When I went and saw A Perfect Circle I didn\'t mosh. Infact, I got seats (though I never sat, nor did anyone else). If anything, I just motioned my body back and forth and got into the "groove" so to speak.

I have no plans of moshing to Opeth either.

Call it what you want.
Crowd surfing is stupid.
You\'re stupid.
The two go together!
Wa-la!
Back to the topic.
Moshing is for certain things, Opeth is not one of them.
