Problems dual-booting xp

I have an 80GB HD with 3 partitions(65GB to XP1, 5GB to XP2, and the rest to temporary files).  The reason for the dual booting is because i want one copy of XP to only load essential files so i can play my games at optimal settings.  on my 160GB i\'ve got just data files split 4 ways(games, movies, music, etc.)  Now on my I drive(which is games) i can access it only on my first boot of xp, not on the serond.  it says its inaccessible.  any idea how to remedy this?

Are you crazy?  I can understand setting up a dual boot to enable you to choose between two different operating systems, but installing XP twice on the same PC?  Seems unnecessary.

Is your hardware insufficient for running XP, and that why you have to do special tweaks to enable it to run certain games?

.soundifont.. What rig do u have.. If it\'s high end your wasting your time. Dual booting XP is kind of stupid. Why not have 2000 for programs, XP for gaming. That\'s how i\'d have it anyway.
If you don\'t have 2000, Just 1 XP will be enough, unless xp is booting with heaps of startup items and/or task tray items you’re not going to make much difference between the 2. Just use a registry cleaner like Ace tools or Advanced Administration tools and you\'ll get a good clean (fast) boot.
If you do get both running together, hit alt, ctrl and delete and it will bring up windows task manager.. See how many things are running and compare the 2. You\'ll probably not have all that much difference.

I\'m at a loss why you have 2 XP partitions.  Like souly said, just clean yo shit up meng (Cuban accent).

alright i\'m gonna delete my second xp partition.  now i need to know which is the best way to set up the second HDD.  It will just be for storage, mp3s, etc.  whats the best way to set it up(active/primary, etc.)  I would assume how i have it now.

Why do you need all those drive letters?  Just make your second physical drive one big volume, and use FOLDERS to sort stuff into Movies, Music, Games, etc.

lol seriously.  Only reason to parition is for a section that changes a helluva lot, like when you encode, capture, re-encode DV video, etc..

Folders are ideal because no space is wasted when paritioning (albiet small) and so there\'s no fear a certain section won\'t outgrow its parition. ie- your movies won\'t be limited to 32 gigs.

I stopped paritioning a while ago and haven\'t looked back.

err, you use about the same space partitioning as a unpartitioned one. I have a 80 gig hd, When i partitioned my hd (3 sections), i only lost 5.6 gig. You\'ll lose about the same on a unpartition drive.
Partitioning does do something good though, it speeds up your system. Theres far less seeking time.  but if u want a slower comp. Go ahead and leave it un-partitioned.

Hmm is that why there is a lil pause when I open my F: Drive which is about 120gb?  Good point then, but I still wouldn\'t go to the trouble of paritioning to get rid of it.

I guess people with 250gb+ drives may have better results doing this.

will have, Think about it. Can u imagine your system having to search through say 250 gig just to find a file thats in the end of the harddrive. If you had partitioned it. It\'ll be alot quicker.
