Here are the most serious attacks, dating 5 years back.

8 September 1999: 94 people die when a 9 floor building explodes.

13 September 1999: Yet another explosion in the same area, an apartment is bombed.. In total 215 people die from both attacks.

8 august 2000: 12 people are killed when a bomb goes off in a walk tunnel in Pusjkin.

26 October 2002: 41 Chechens and 128 theatre visitors are killed when the Police storm the Dubrov theatre, where Chechnian terrorist have kept 800 people prisoner for 3 days.

5 July 2003: 14 people are killed in a suicide attack during a rock festival.

9 December 2003: 6 people are killed outside the Hotel National, a female suicide bomber is blamed for the attack.

6 February 2004: Today, at least 40 people die in an attack in the subways.
