DOOM III Xbox screen!

THX here is the problem though while the ATI card can RUN DOOM 3 just as good as the NVIDIA, the same can not be said about the latter in regards to HALF LIFE 2 heck the 5950 or (NV35) series) is not even a true DX9 card, and don\'t get me started on the issue of  half-life AA on nVIDIA.  Now this generations of cards comming out might change things, but like I said we will have to wait and see.

Also I can name a bunch of games that were NVIDIA hardware recommend which turned out to run better on the ATI 9700 pro, take ut2003 for example, (remember the triliner filtering for UT 2003 which is disabled on the so called optimized NVIDIA hardware, while the ATI card actually Process the whole string) Also when DOOM 3 WAS RUNING AT E3. id was using ATI hardware to run the game, NOT THE NVIDIA CARD, ouch

Anyways back to the point of discussion for those that want to RUN DOOM 3  in high resolution, with all the settings high, PLus 60fps(since I see to many of you bitch at 30fps) you are going to need a very powerful GPU +CPU, more importanly of course the GPU.

I doubt this generations of GPU\'s can run DOOM 3 in all of it\'s glory at 60fps. Although I have a very strong feeling that NEXT generation R420 and NV40xx series will be able to run DOOM 3 easily at 60fps.

Both company\'s NVIDIA and ATI has in numerous cases suggested that this years new generation of Graphics Processors will have a twice the processing power from last year generation of GPU. The information we have seen suggests that this will be true. GDDR3 running at 1.0ghz-1.2ghz with 256bit memory bus, etc...

but seriously, I\'m not impressed with Doom3 aside from the graphics...Doom3 without the graphics is just another FPS...even the tone down XBOX version...do you really want to play this? You might as well, play it on low setting on a mid-range PC...and it\'ll still probably look better than the XBOX version.

And i think it\'s pretty much confirm that Doom3 @XBOX will run at 30fps (hopefully without frequent frame drops).

Xbox or PC, from what I can see from posted screens, Doom3 looks to be taking gaming backwards.

My fondest memories of the original Doom trilogy were of entering rooms/areas, large or small, packed with enemies you\'d find a real challenge to clear. What do I see in every Doom3 screen? A couple of well lit creepy foes in claustrophobic sized areas. As if the Silent Hill and RE series haven\'t run that scenario into the ground already.

Oh yeah, that\'s what I\'m looking forward to in the future. Upgraded visuals at the expense of gameplay

heretic I see where you are coming from, many people in the HL2/DOOM2 camp are mostly aticipating HL2, since many feel DOOM 3 is all eye candy and no gameplay. From what carmack has said, is that they are relaying on the visuals to set a paticular mood and to aid in it\'s enviroment of terror and suspension.

Fact of the matter is we will have to wait and see When the game is released to determine if DOOM 3 is just another FPS coupled with state of the at graphics.

Honestly, the real excitment I have towards DOOM 3 is the Engine, as it\'s hands down years ahead of it\'s time. When 3rd patry developers licence that engine it will be a big plus for us PC gamers. (only downside will be lazy deveopers licencing the engine and expecting it to carry the weight of the whole game)

It\'s not really years before its time, Nvidia256. Not anymore, anyways. id\'s competition has almost caught up.

I know it\'s wrong of me to criticize gameplay before release, I guess it\'s just that those screens of updated cyborgs and aliens I\'m seeing don\'t appear to have a snowballs chance in hell of accomplishing Carmack\'s intended goal. At this stage I think in order for that kind of approach to work on me it would need to get much closer to the look of a movie rather than just another video game with yet again more detail and better lighting.

At least a year easy, name one game other than HL2(which also is not near as rich) that comes close to the complexity of DOOM 3\'s engine. Carmack has always been way ahead of the game, after all his engines set the standard for the rest of the Video game world. Note I said engines\'s not games, Many, including myself have been saying for years that CARMACK ought not to be making games, but ENGINES instead, as they create the best in the business. Think about it, if they had focused on the DOOM 3 engine only, and forgot about the game the Engine would have been ready for release long ago, probably say Q4 2003.

Also note, and correct me if i\'m wrong, but John Carmack has said after DOOM 3 he is going to retire.
