Barring any type of rumors, is there any definite timeframe for the release of the new playstation? I tried searching for a couple of minutes, but all I found was bullshit.

Nope.... the PS3 is still work in Progress and wasn\'t announced or even hinted @ E3.

From the looks of things the PS2 will be around for a while yet.

cool... my co-worker was interested in finally picking up the ps2 \'cos of the price cut here in the US, but he was worried that the 3 would come out soon....

well, Tekken5 is said to be a ps3 game and its coming out this year on arcades, The console release date is said to be 2005. hmmmmmmmm.....

I don\'t think Sony is in that much of a rush to get to the market. I\'m betting on a late 2005-early 2006 launch. I haven\'t read anything about PS3 game development. The PSP is probably going to be the primary focus for several months after release before they start dropping PS3 bombs on everybody.

We know that MS wants out before Sony, having expressed anywhere from a 6-9 month lead(we\'ll see). There have been talks about as early as this x-mas all the way to fall of 2005. Development has already begun to shift to Xbox 2 with reports of Bungie(after Halo 2 release) and Rare already in progress.

Nintendo has said they will be out before MS and Sony, which means a definite 2005 release.(Nintendo\'s track record says otherwise)

Who said PS3? Not even Namco, anything is just purely speculation. The Ps2 should be able to handle it with no problem.

Ahh yea, i researched the hardware the arcade game uses.
I was just going on speculation, from what others have said in other forums etc. It uses Sys246 hardware (ps2 based).

So i can now guarantee it\'ll be a ps2 game.
