PS2 Hardware Question.
« on: May 24, 2004, 05:35:22 AM »
I just went out and bought 3 cheap second-hand PS2 consoles and with my own that makes 4 all togther that i have. They were amazingly cheap btw..

this is my plan

i want to get them networked so that 4 players can play them simultaneously in the same room, i dont need to access the internet i just need a tcp/ip equivalent of a netwroked LAN but with PS2 consoles.

what hardware do i need and can anyone explain how this is done and/or direct me to website that explains this...

this is my first post...heh cheers guys..

when i get it running i want GT4 prologue to be thrashed out night and day in anticipation of the arrival of GT4...

i am in the UK if that makes a diference..

Think its do able.. just as long as its not the PS2 + (the saint Silver model)

Because the new versions are minus the firewire linkup port which is located next to the USB ports.

Also... its possible to do a Surround GT3 set up.

3 PS2
3 copys of GT3
3 TV\'s
Link Cables

and you can have a front, left & right side view all running while you play single player races.

PSM2 mag had an article around the time when GT3 was released a while back.

Also Check the Web for more info...(Gran Turismo fan sites are a good source)

Moved...
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

yeah, i found some ilink compatible firwire hubs for sale

they apparently can link up to 9 consoles together...

good call on the silver consoles ooseven, i had no idea sony were ripping us off by removing the ilink capability...

i have been trying to get some interets in GT3, prologue and hopefully a GT4 ilink tournament together....we play online racing a lot with dudes from the US and Aus etc...it would be cool to get some locals in on the action..

Also i think you can link your PS2s via Network adapter (even though its desinged for the internet and BroadBand use in the UK)..

Shouldn\'t be too difficult to shouldn\'t be too difficult to set up a LAN net work if you have no ilink.

Just as long as the games support it.
