Hi ,

A few weeks ago there was a very intersting thread regarding "Svideo vs. Component" ... Well it got me convinced and I\'m out to buy a Component cable...

After doing some research it seems that I have 2 options :
1. Sony original cable for 20$
2. not so origianl cable from ebay for 4$

What people here use?

Thanks ,
Yoni.

I use the Monster brand GameLink400 Component Cables for my PS2:

What is the "not so original" cable you were talking about?

Get a monster and forget ebay.

I use a 3rd party gold SCART connection and it\'s great. It only fits euro tv\'s though. If you live in the states forget it.

I got the monster component cables (before they had the Adio with them) so I bought the Optical cable and a CAmbridge Soundworks system for my PS2 (I have my VCR, PS2, and Cable box hooked up to it. connected and I split the front let and front right into the peakers that came with the system and my boombox so I have Pseudo 7.1 running).

I know it is kinda off-topic..... oh well....

the $4 from ebay is from 3rd party.  I don\'t usually trust 3rd party component video cable because they suck.  They died pretty fast or signal strength isn\'t that good.  Hence, costing so cheap.

Just go with the Sony orignal component cable for $20.
Althought it cost a bit much, but it worth it.  The cost have to do with good signal strength and the cable is pretty thick.

See if you can get Sony component video cable at a cheaper price...

Yoni first off is your TV progressive?  If not you may just be throwing around extra money.  It\'s up to you, I\'m assuming you weighed the benefits of component in your favor from the other thread.

The ebay cables are very tempting because of the price but the quality is shoddy, speaking from personal experience, got an N64 s-video cable that way.

I have the Monsters (got a deal on it) but I\'d have to echo what others have said and go for the $20 Sony.  It\'ll last you longer than the console will.

I bought the sony brand component cables at best buy last christmas to go along with my new tv.  I couldn\'t be happier with them, just such a sharp and clean image.

Hmm... You guys are talkin\' very highly about the Official Component Cables. Do they provide a sharper image than the Monster brand cables I have?

Quick question from a newbie. I got a 50001 PS2 last weekend and very much enjoying it. The problem i\'m having is with the progressive feature using Sony\'s component cables.

At first, nothing would show up using the component cables and there was nothing in the instruction manual on how to turn on the progressive feature. So I went back to the regular cables and turned on the progressive feature (you have to use a DVD and press stop turn on the feature... who knew!?). So now, the DVD works in 480P but none of my games do (only have GT3 and a 007 game so far). The Sony boot screen doesn\'t even show; the TV just says no signal... Let\'s assume those two games are not progressive, does this mean I need to switch the damn cables every time i want to switch from a DVD to a non-progressive game or vice versa? This seems incredibly stupid... please tell me it ain\'t so.

Thanks for any help
