Lets remember the heros who gave us freedom.

Official PSX2central D day tribute thread…

Quote

Leaders mark 60 years since D-Day

Heads of state and thousands of war veterans have begun ceremonies on the French coast to mark 60 years since the D-Day invasion of Nazi-occupied Europe.

Events include memorial services and visits to graves of some of the 250,000 killed in the battle for Normandy.

"You look at the [grave] stones and they\'re all young," a UK veteran said.

You never see them as old men like we are.

"You see them all as young men and you think they never had a life and it gets very sad," said Joe Kitchener at Pegasus Bridge, scene of a daring airborne raid at the start of the landings.

"America would do it again for our friends"

Thank you for remembering. I take care of my father who will be 95 in july. He was there on normandy beach and from the stories he tells we really have no clue the hell they went through for our freedom.IMHO anyone who was there is a HERO.

I really wish I could visit Normandy.  I lived in Europe for 4 years, but never made it to Normandy.  I visited Verdun, but WWI just doesn\'t have the same effect on me as WWII does.  Maybe its because WWII is my grandfathers generation.

My grandfather was one of the guys driving the landing craft on that day.  He doesn\'t talk much about it, except for an incident that happened the on D Day +1 when he was bringing supplies ashore and they loaded his boat up with too much stuff and it sank.

We care, but it seems like a long time ago.
