"Midway has announced that yet another sequel to their popular Mortal Kombat fighting franchise is in development for the PS3.

Midway\'s CEO David Zucker, told attendees at the RBC Capital Market\'s North American Technology Conference in California that there will be a seventh Mortal Kombat installment, tentatively titled Mortal Kombat 7.

As you would expect, at such an early time, details regarding the next-gen rendition still remain unknown. We\'ll bring you the details as they arrive."

I was going to get into an aprenticeship with Midway since they are located here, but it was too far into the summer.

Stay on topic -  I don\'t care how comfortable you are with the forums, dolt.

( ; ) )

Seriously though, this is a case of counting your eggs before they hatch. The newest MK has not even made it out yet and they are investing quite abit of money into early development for a next generation system? Seems very premature. Oh and one final thing, I didn\'t realize we was up to number seven... Damn...What a wierd world we live in, Street Fighter is still stuck at number three and MK is moving on to number seven.

Yeah, But there\'s like 400,000 different versions of Street Fighter, so they\'re not exactly in the same ball park (trying not to remember horrible games like MK: Mythologies)...

Exactly. Quality over quantity though. Not that the two are much different in numbers. The Alpha series did so well that there was no need for a SF3 for a long time. Not to mention they also were working on the capcom vs. series.

Speaking of bad MK titles though, not too many people bought into the SF ex series (the 3D ones).

Idk. Im a Street fighter freak. And more of a "anything after UMK3 sucked" kind of MK fan.

Actually, if you want to break all this down, it\'s not in the same ballpark. Why you ask? Consider this...

Capcom considers Mega Man three different franchises. What you ask? There is the "classics", "X" and "Battle Network" series. Each is its own franchise and that is how Capcom thinks of them. The same can be said about Street Fighter. You have Street Fighter 2 , Street Fighter Alpha and Street Fighter EX. Each is its own distinct series, with distinct characters and adjustments to the gameplay. That is why Street Fighter 2 was eventually followed with Street Fighter 3 and Street Fighter Alpha was followed with it\'s own sequels. Where am I going with all this? Midway has kept the Mortal Kombat franchise as just one single franchise.

I know there was no point to this, but I like educating people.
:D
